It's a great phone... Not too many differences between the regular S5 and the Sport... Definitely like the alternate color options

I've had the s5 sport for over a year now, and I love it! Even with heavy use there have been no problems at all. I have three different style cases, from Amazon, just be sure to add sport in the search, and read results carefully. The camera is great, rivaling my expensive prosumer model, especially in low light. It's been dropped a few time, had liquid spilled on it twice, and works and looks like new. I reboot it once a week or so, and maintain it well, and fully expect to get a few more years use from it.

I recently purchased a Samsung Galaxy S5 but after three weeks the screen turned completely black. After much effort from my side the local store in Bloemfontein eventually indicated their willingness to replace the phone with an equivalent as the S5 has been discontinued. I am without a phone for more than three weeks now and still waiting for their decision on what would be an equivalent. What do you think would be an equivalent?

American phones are too fragile. Gets broken even after being purchased after a week. They should, these are not phones but cheap versions and copies of original products, refurbished and crappy devices.

Since acquiring our 1st cell phones in the late '90s, we`` have only used Samsung. We've never needed to replace our phones or have them repaired. This 25+ year trend will end when we purchase our next phones even if we have to switch to an iPhone (shiver). Recently, my husband, daughter and I all upgraded from either an s3 or s4 to the s5 Sport within the same week. It is my understanding that the sport is exclusive to Sprint. Anyway, within a few days all phones had protective cases on them and were working great. One day, less than 1 1/2 - 2 months after purchase, my husband heard a notification alert. It took him a minute or so to check it. When he did, an error message saying that the phone was overheating and should be shut down was displayed. As he went to do it, the phone shut down. Less than 5 minutes had passed between notification and automatic shut down. He removed the phone from the case and let it cool for a couple of hours before trying to restart. He checked the water damage indicator spot on the battery, just in case, and it was totally white. Then he tried turning it on and it would not work. He tried plugging it in and then, using a different working battery. His battery didn't work in other phones either. He could not remember anytime he had dropped, sat on, or done something that could possibly damage. We called Samsung, explained what happened, and they said to mail it in. Several days later, customer service called and said that the screen was cracked, which was considered physical damage/abuse and not covered by warranty. My husband told the lady that the screen was not cracked when he boxed it up and mailed it. She said that he wouldn't have seen the crack because it was on the "internal screen", making it sound as if there were two screens (not sure if there is). Once he began asking questions, she reviewed the denial and said she was sending it back to the technicians for further review. Several days after that, he gets another call reiterating the crack in the "internal screen" and now, water/liquid damage that caused corrosion and the electrical components of the phone to fry. Oh and FYI, we went to the Sprint store when all this happened and found out that Sprint isn't even selling their exclusive s5 Sport anymore. Wonder why? This whole situation has me stumped. If you can provide me with any answers, I'd appreciate it.
                            1) The phone is supposedly made for the active person and with Gorilla Glass which
should provide at least a little more protection. So, how can one apply enough
pressure to crack an internal glass without so much as scratching the external glass?

                            2) If a customer can't see this screen like they can see the external screen, plastic case,
etc, how are they supposed to know whether or not it already has a crack when they
purchased it? And if a problem occurs so quickly after purchase and the phone is
otherwise still in like new condition with no scratches, dents, etc, how can they say it
                            is customers fault?
                            3) As for water/liquid damage, remember that the water damage indicator on the battery
was completely white and that Samsung heavily promotes the fact this phone is
water resistant with an IP rating of IP67, yet the warranty does not cover any
water/liquid damage. If water did get in, wouldn't it have had to go through the tightly
fitting phone case or non-cracked exterior screen first, then to the compromised,
cracked, internal screen to get to the electronics? So if the internal screen hadn't
mysteriously broken without any other sign of trauma or abuse, the phone had
                            chance of surviving?
                            4) To the best of my knowledge my husband has never been given a visual of this
mysterious crack. I'm pretty sure they take pictures of their findings for
documentation purposes but I don't think they provided copies of them with the
denial letters. Can we get copies of these if they were taken?

Searching the internet, I have found many other with the same or very similar problems, even with the new Galaxy s6. Beware, especially with all the lease plans floating around.

After S5 released the original s5 It was expensive for poor people, they Modified it by removing its all special features(indeed you know them)and created this Kids toy and called it s5 sport to encourage poors buy it.
if i'm wrong please correct that for me.

I've had this phone for a few months now. It works pretty well. Sometime is messes up, but not to the point where it needs to be switched in. I've dropped it quite a bit standing and sitting. it has scratches on the outside, but no cracked screen luckily which is great.
However, it is stupidly difficult to find a case for this phone ! ! Especially waterproof phone cases. It seems that every time I search for phone cases for it only the S5 pops up and like 5 S5 Sports cases in between..
