Samsung SM-G906L Galaxy S5 Prime gets Bluetooth certification

16 May, 2014

Samsung's official stance is that there won't be a premium version of the Galaxy S5, but evidence to the contrary keeps showing up from new sources. The latest is a submission to the Bluetooth SIG for certification of the SM-G906L known around the rumor mill as Galaxy S5 Prime.

It looks like an early version of the device as the hardware version is REV0.1, though the rumors we've been hearing are for a June release so this could just be the first device sent for testing rather than a prototype. The rumored launch price is $880 / €640.

Unfortunately, the certification doesn’t tell us much else other than that the phone will support Bluetooth 4.0, which we could have guessed anyway. From earlier rumors we know the Samsung Galaxy S5 Prime will have a 5.2" QHD screen (1,440 x 2,560) and a Snapdragon 805 chipset, but other specs are still veiled.

Thanks for the tip!

US$880? I don't think so. That figure is from the Korean price of W880,000. It'll be more like $700, since Samsung phones (and any Korean electronic or appliance or vehicle) are priced lower in the US.
