its a hardware function , there are a lot of android 14 devices that doesn't support fast charging .
if you want to fast charge aquos r5g you will need a fast charger , i mean 12*2.25 = 27 watt minimum , this type of charger is called charging brick , buy a decent one , don't buy fake Chinese charger that have fast charging written on them , buy a proper fast charger ,
then your charging problem will be solved .

After update to Android 12 my touch is dead at the bottom

30% of my touch is dead ,rest is dying 0.5% each day especially if play any game or if the device heat up.
in my opinion Most devices in which dead touch issue happens are Carrier lock so i think the person who bought the device (along with Carrier commitment) didn't fullfil his dues so the company Soft brick the device using Update
because before updating my device (which i legally bought as Kit phone) was working Okay ,now everyday it's dying.
i lost 40000 , i save this money harshly.
i know a simple solution To cut the screen using ADB but after doing it the device look funny like half screen is always black
every day i have to change resolution because one more pixel is dead each day.
kindly please please do not update this device,no matter how much Tech guy you're, I'm in tech industry for 10 years and See Everyday one more pixel is dead and I can't do anything

SomebodyInterested, 28 May 2023Ye, that's our best bet if we are aiming for something... moreyeah same here. i'm interest with this phone since the specs and the price for used on are quite attractive, should be fine for at least another 3 years from now with that kind of specs. especially since my aim is for running emulator. me too! thanks for sharing your findings, good luck!

Anonymous, 28 May 2023so just stick to android 10?Ye, that's our best bet if we are aiming for something so cheap and quite the specs, we gotta sacrifice for something ...…. personally I am not that big of a software or a UI guy, if if works for the next 5-7 years I am down for it, pleasure having had the moment to talk with you!

Thank you so much for sharing info... moreno. i haven't try r5g, it was very expensive and not globally available, when the price for used one became attractive,i noticed those touch problem when i was browsing at online shop, the amount of affected devices really give me hard time not to have some kind of concern, still need more time to investigate i guess
i'm not sure about the definitive answer to that question since i'm not really clear about the consumerism culture in japan but in my opinion, the japanese market in smartphone really dominated by apple, so i guess when they want to to buy older phones they probably looking for iphones and not to mention pretty much all japanese android phones don't have a good record on software support in the past. this year with newest products they have like 3 years at least guarantee software updates.in the past you're pretty much very lucky if they gave you 2 software updates and most of japanese using their phones for social media and media consumption so maybe they're not really looking for specs, not sure about current market but in the past, the sharp aquos really have some kind of targeted audiences,whether female/otaku/business person/etc hence their design was really unique and feature wise also attractive. personally i prefer the sense 6 design to r5g, aquos zero 6 was a beauty also but all of them are nothing when compared to r7/sense 7 design

Bingo! I found it! The reason behind the screens failing out are that the displays weren't made for supporting the newer versions of android; the company Sharp is well reputed for its magnificent screens, but upon launching the r5g, they made a newer and better screen one for their flagship, hence they didn't think it through and made it incapable for the newer versions like 11 and 12, 11 causes about 10 percent to go bad and if you upgrade it further it reduces to about 3-4 percent.

Somebodyinterested, 24 May 2023Well, it seems that I have heard a lot about the phone and ... morefrom what i've understand this model wasn't really that popular in aquos r series, not sure why, my guess is this phone probably was unlucky being released when the pandemic officially declared, and i think people in japan more attractive to aquos sense 5g. and their next phones released were aquos r6,zero 6,and sense 6 which get more attentions so people kinda forget about this phone i guess.
yeah, even japanese youtuber rarely discuss this aquos r5g
about the rooted stuff, as far as i know japanese providers really strict about their stuff, they really are that protective and since sharp smartphones also fell in niche market globally, so not many people really put efforts into it and probably not plenty of diy community providing tools, however some seller able to root japanese phones but only limited to uninstall the providers apps. for the UI it's been like that like forever, like pretty much all japanese phones, they tend to use stock android only added few of their own features. before the R series, back in the day with android 4 up to 5, sharp smartphones in zeta series have two type of UI, stock android and the provider UI mainly docomo UI.
for the display, no idea.still big question for me but i've seen plenty of aquos r5g have problem with their display mainly the touch problem, few in r3,not sure about r6 and r7.r2 seems fine

Well, it seems that I have heard a lot about the phone and its hardware specs, but i simply can't seem to get what the reason for it being available at such cheap prices all around the globe relative to its successor, Moreover, there aren't any post, reddit forums, xda forums or anything besides this where people's views can be explored. Could someone please explain this and why even in Japanese sites the name r5g is so obscure and not so heard of,
What is up with it not being able to be rooted and its so restrictive ui that looks like the ripoff of, lemme think, google!
And is it true that displays on these phones give in after a while???

if you're new to this mobile,(or you buy it as a kit phone)
following tips will help you.
(1) replace camera app with adobe Lightroom (especially if it's a kit phone because in kit phones the camera is blurry ,adobe Lightroom can help you capture better photos as compare to default camera app.
(2) disable each and every useless app (55 in total) after that you can get smoothie smooth performance.
(3) change default launcher to Microsoft launcher (No ads + beautiful wallpaper, go to launcher setting,turn off every unnecessary thing)
(4) if it a kit phone (in pak ) use japan vpn to find updates ,as soon as update start to download after a little downloading click on pause ,then disconnect the vpn ,click on resume (in this way you will be able to download updates on full speed)
(5) Current OS update is Android 12/Oct 2022 build
(6) current security update is April 2023
(7) If you're buying a kit phone,make sure that no pixel is dead in display,even a single pixel which is dead can make you go crazy
(8) Don't use local fast chargers ,Use 30w fast charger known as charging brick (12 watt* 2.25 amp = 30 waat) charger, It will fully charge your device in 40 minutes
(9) It doesn't heat up in games because of such a high amount of Ram and very best Soc
(10) when buying make sure that there are no scratches on camera lens . high number of scratch mean camera functions will be effected
(11) buy a Back panel jelly because it absorb every single finger print
(12) be a good person
