Sony Xperia 1 V design revealed by billboards

Sony is unveiling the Xperia 1 Mk V in ten days. The device was teased over two months ago with a similar design to its predecessors, but now we have a confirmation of its looks. The new flagship appeared on a billboard in Hong Kong, revealing the triple rear camera vertical alignment with a more prominent oval island and larger lenses.

A photo of the billboard appeared on Reddit, revealing the new Xperia 1's tagline will be “one for all lights” and will have “the next-gen double low-noise camera sensor”.

Previous reports revealed Sony is implementing an IMX989 sensor for the main cam, but it might go for the IMX858 for the main shooter because it is the only platform that supports the new low-noise mode LN2 in combination with MCSS (Multi-Camera Synchronisation System).

The way LN2 works is an implementation of a new architecture of the CMOS sensor technology. Instead of applying photodiodes and pixel transistors on the same substrate and plane, they are now stacked one on top of the other, thus expanding dynamic range, allowing more light and reducing noise without affecting the overall performance of the phone.

Sony does not have the habit of revealing specs early like other manufacturers, which means we’ll probably have to wait for Xperia 1 V's official launch on May 11 to get the details.

Thanks for the tip, Josip!

I can’t ensure I’m right, in one site I’ve seen the information that it has 88.6% screen-to-body ratio, if that’s true, it’s already great, I want Sony to make 1 series curved, and 5 series flat)

Well, based on the renders, It seems I might have to wait for the Xperia 1 mark.6... In daily use, I love the Xperia IV, and while the gap between 16mm equiv lens and 24 equiv lens makes sense, the gap between 24mm equiv and the 85-125mm equiv z...
