This is why I think they don't need to involve so much in the market with devices, since they are making already nice money selling to others.
Who is "on behind scenes" of every phone is another story to be honest.
Like the Iphone as you already know almost every part of it is made by other companies so Apple parts comes from nice contracts but not from the real Apple industries.

Sony with Ericsson had a bad reputation, and Sony now needs more time to become famous. I believe Sony will become more famous than now soon. Samsung is smarter than Sony. Sony should advertise their smart phoned as Samsung does. It's not everything about quality, Sony need to advertise their smart phones!
When I travel on buses, I see many times people having a Samsung in my country, and I see almost nobody having a Sony or SE phone.

I think samsung is testing right now the Xperia ... moreI really like Japanese technology, but Sony is behind almost everybody. Sony only this year entered the Quad Core race. They are unable to make a phone with a big internal storage.
I tell you 2 Japanese companies, who are better than Sony(I hope one of these will enter in the global markets). The first one is Sharp. I think you heard about them. They make awesome smart phones, they will make IGZO displays for Iphone as I know. Sharp was always ahead of Sony in Japan.
Now the second company is Fujitsu. They are on a very high level. They make things that nobody can't(fingerprint sensor, e-ink display for example)

Samsung doesnt want to be the first in everything, they'll wait till the competitors come up with innovations so they know what to do.

Why is sold massively?? Well if you have some money in the pocket and you are looking for a new smartphone and you are totally out of ideas, you make the common choice, buy a SGS. Its sad

How do you know Samsung copied Sony if the GS4 will have a HDR? Maybe Samsung started to develop the GS4 before Sony started to develop their Xperia Z. :P Samsung doesn't want to be first in everything. They are now probably testing their flagship phone. LG is the company who wants to be first at everything. They were the first who made a Dual Core smart phone, and that was a disaster.

sony has showed its excellent engineering in this phone..but samsung's exyno 5 octa , nvidia tegra 4 are so faster than Qualcomm's Snapdragon S4 Pro...so sony might have to leap to octa core processors for it's market dominance n competence!
