On the P30 Pro, only allows EMUI 11 and EMUI 12 on HiSuite. Quite risky to try manually installing another firmware at this point so I've stuck with EMUI 12.

Sarmad, 28 Apr 2024any difference is camera performance , in previous versions... moreI'm not sure of camera performance to previous firmwares. Looking at comments from others who've had it from 2019 said the performance of the camera is worse.

I believe this is the case because by default on EMUI 12, it doesn't make use of the 40MP. You'd have to select JPG-L under "Pro" in the camera or "High Res" under more to get the best photo possible. Mine takes great photos with highest resolution enabled.

Dolby Atmos equalizer doesn't have a great impact from observation compared to 9.1.0 on my secondary P20 to really get acoustics.

any difference is camera performance , in previous versions ?
        and can we downgrade ?

It's a nice phone. Huawei limits you now to EMU 11 and 12 once you have updated. This phone performs best under EMUI 9.1, though of course, the security patch is way outdated.

found a method that worked, to remove AI Search. (no root needed)
            1) Download ADB
            2) Enable USB Debugging on your device
            3) Connect to computer and verify your device is listed with command "adb devices"
            4) Type "adb Shell"
            5) Type "pm list packages", this will show you all packages installed on phone.
            6) Type "pm uninstall -k --user 0 com.huawei.search"
            7) you should see the word "Sucess" pop up.. done

            to enable usb debugging:
            Dial *#*#2846579#*#*
            Select background
            Select USB mode
            Select "Default Mode"
            Now Open settings
Find developer options(enable it by clicking build number 5 tiumes)
Enable ADB over USB. (select transfer files when connecting to computer

for me, its shows AI Search, whether you swipe from right or left half, doesn't matter
when you swipe down from top then its opens notifications only
Tried using Nova and Microsoft Launcher, works perfect but idle battery drain is not as good, I assume

Kristian , 25 Apr 2024YesI would say it merely depends on what you wanna use the phone for. If you only sit in youtube and netflix, and occasionally check the weather and email, you're good to go, on the other hand, if you use a lot banking and online shopping features, I strongly suggest to get a newer phone. It all comes down to security, which Huawei is sadly not offering. Not on the Europe market anyways. I know it's a whole other deal in China.

Sarmad, 16 Apr 2024swiping down open AI search instead of notifications, hate ... moreSwiping down works two ways, the left half of the screen, and the right half of the screen. Left for search and right for notifications. At least that's how it was for me after the last update. Took a while to get used to it, but was not that bad. Don't remember if i had a look into it having different options or not. Gonna keep it as a backup phone for now. Already enjoying my new beast :)

The best phone long lasting .. i have it for 5 years now and still runs like new. Huawei makes the best working phones .. Phone signal always good changes from provider yo provider country to country smoothly no need restart like Samsung ..

swiping down open AI search instead of notifications, hate that
So I installed the Microsoft Launcher, which works best. double tap to lock(Accessibility Access) also works like charm and FOD too

but the Microsoft Launcher seems to eat battery ? any idea ?

Very fine phone. Got one a couple months after the release, so just under five years ago and been using it ever since. The battery is still like the day I took it out of the box. I'm not a hectic user, so there are times, that it still lasts up to 5 days on me, but with heavy usage I reckon it's about 1.5 to 2. I have no complaints other than one. The only reason I'm choosing a new phone is the lack of updates. I'm from Europe. This phone deserves another software upgrade. And not just software, security too. It merely gets a security patch every 1.2 years or so if lucky. And there is still no talk about transferring the EMUI 13 to it as well, only shady replies. So I've decided to part ways with this magnificent BEAST. You have served me well. I salute you.

Fantastic good phone, amazingly good cameras to this day, groundbreaking tech that will not be forgotten. P30 Pro a classic phone.

Just got one, the 8/256 variant after reading your comment guys. I came from Mi9SE,
and till now, loving the phone.
is there any double tap to lock or any miui based custom roms out there for p30 pro ?

I give PayID instead of BSB/Acc to strangers for deposit only so they can't debit. Had P30 Pro for 5 years now. If you're worried about risk, don't install any new apps until app tested on another phone.
Awesome camera though, people thought photos were shot by professional SLR. Didn't tell them it was just a phone camera :)

Awesome phone camera, excellent quality pictures, good picture editors and animators, can make videos with still pics. 40W full speed charger, had for 5 years now, still rolling. Last Huawei to have Google. Bought P50 pro 2 years ago, never used it. no Google, no search, no chrome, no play, no choice. Keeping the P30 Pro, might buy NM card to increase memory.
