I purchased this phone for my Mom 2 days back as she wanted a reliable dual Sim phone and it is not bad.
Being a heavy gamer and internet user, I may not use it but I certainly recommend it for no-nonsense users who mainly concentrate on calling, messaging and music. Plus at less than 5k in India with free 2GB card, its really an economical handset.
Review
Calling - The call quality is really good. You can easily switch between two Sims. Or you can also set any one Sim as a standard for sending messages, data and calls.
Its dual standby so good for receiving calls.
Messaging - Both on-screen numerical and qwerty keyboards are provided. Messages are viewed as Conversation threads
Music - Music quality is really loud and nice. There are 6 equalizer settings only. But, otherwise listening to music is a pleasure.
Camera/Video - Camera is only 2MP. While, it is not too good, it isn't too bad either. Picture quality in daylight is better since there is no flash.
Video recording is VGA so nothing much to say in it.
Internet/Mail/Social Networking - There is no 3G. But with a good 2G connection, it is good to surf social sites and check occasional emails.
60 EA games are available for download for free as well access to Nokia Music store to download unlimited songs for a period of one month.

1) Notification Bar - this is quite a surprise feature in a phone with this price range. It has a notification bar like present in smart-phones with shortcuts for:-
Bluetooth
Data connection on/off
Sound Profiles (Loud, Silent, Vibrate).
It can also be accessible via lock-screen to check missed call alerts and unread sms.
It also has quick access for:-
Play (games)
Call (Dial screen)
Write (Messages)
2) Good Music Player quality
3) Good File manager for handling data in memory card
4) Economical price
5) Durable form-factor and sturdy built
6) Dual Sim standby
CONS
1) Lack of 3G and Wi-Fi
2) OK camera quality
3) Resistive touch screen
Conclusion:- Bearing in mind the price of the handset, you can ignore the disadvantages.
Instead of abusing the phone, I will urge other readers to bear in mind that its just a simple handset aimed at people who use phone for basic features, music and occasional internet. It can also be a good alternative handset.

DON'T BUY IT. The phone is DEAD slow. The good software is KILLED by the capacitive screen. DON"T BUY IT. THis phone shows why Nokia is close to disaster

this phone sucks! ive used this phone and the screen is not responsive! why Nokia keep on creating this kind of resistive phone thus Nokia don't have money to use capacitive devices instead of using resistive?? wake up Nokia!!! Think first before spending your money creating this kind of trash phone!

nokia asha 305's 2mp camera is only good for still photos, video recorder is crap, it shoots at VGA quality.
