"Sony Mobile Communications Inc. is a multinational mobile phone manufacturing company jointly headquartered in Tokyo, Japan, and Lund, Sweden, and is a wholly owned subsidiary of Sony Corporation." Sony still has headquarters in Sweden, so what Sony did was just rebrand Sony Ericsson to Sony mobile communications. Sony Ericsson was a weird name, Sony is more easier to tell.

This is a smartphone, if Sony gave too much designs like previous dumbphones, smartphones would be ugly. Smartphones are supposed to be slim and slick slabs. Previously, almost all Nokia dumbphones looked different from each other, same applies to Samsung and Sony Ericsson. But when they moved into smartphones, all companies stopped heavily designing phones , because people want slim and slick phones.

Bad thing is that it's not an international version.
And it'll have a lots internal problems that's for sure.
I have used Verizon phones but every phone has some technical issues like battery few features will never work properly.
Just Sony need to launch internationally.
I'm waiting.

nice job sony. but why is it that only USA get the goodies of sony (QHD screen, Bigger battery and Wireless charging). please let all this features be in the xperia z5 and make the z5 design awesome
