I bought it as a secondary phone for the work and I regret that decision! Here are the pros and cons:
Pros:
- Great value for what you are getting. 8GB of RAM, 256 GB Storage with a good SoC is a steal!
- Battery live is amazing
- Camera app is great with so many options. I really liked the time laps options.
- Getting security updates on timely manner
- Camera are decent
- Sound is ok
Cons:
- GSM reception is horrible! Never thought that this is a problem in 2023 at all! In some case I'll set beside the window and open it so the call not drop.
- SoC/CPU G99 is a decent chip on paper but something going really wrong with this phone! It's very laggy and slow even in simple apps like google maps. Even that the OS have not many option and seems clean but seems like the software and the CPU aren't getting along!
- Screen colors are horrible and brightness is low. It's almost unusable under direct sun.
- Touch isn't great especially when touching the corners of the screen.
- Single color tone flash which lakes the red tone.
- Ambient light sensor isn't the greatest.
- Finger touch sensor can be better and should be faster.
- NFC performance is horrible and true embarrassment.
- I hope for a faster charging than the 18w, the battery 6000mah so 18w will.take.considerble long time.
- Single mic on the bottom thus noise cancellation is of a limited performance or even doesn't exists.

this phone sucks, i bought this last march 2023 and after a month my phone is experiencing some issues ghost touch cant even use double tap to wake and alike because it would stay open. I was faked by its specifications lol. Now, 2024, the touch sometimes dont work i had to restart it by holding the power button since I cannot touch the screen lol. too much bug but the battery is good that is all I can say.

This phone is bugging. Data connection always bugging losing internet connection sometimes, and at first i thought this phone has no issue but right now it is like i wanna throw this who created this trash sh*t

Playing wifi and data at same time and when the wifi is poor connection the data will turn on and the error sound will hear, for the heating issue sims if the phone 41 up Celsius error sound again

so the earlier version of helio g99 uses the old mali g52 mc2 gpu?
while the newer g99 uses the new more powerful mali g57 mc2?
no wonder some g99 has worse gaming performance than others.

this phone's hios 12 os is buggy, the phone always changes brightness whenever i launch an app. (adaptive brightness is off)

Lack of performance. Cannot keep up with call of duty's Medium graphics. I would not say it's a gaming phone if it is not good on the performance just on the launcher it's already laggy.
