T-Mobile sends out July security patch to Galaxy Note 4 and Note Edge

Vlad, 01 August, 2016

Google has just announced the August security update for Android, but some device makers and carriers still haven't finalized the rollout of the July update to their products. Case in point: only today has T-Mobile started sending out the July update to the Samsung Galaxy Note 4 and Note Edge units it's sold.

After you apply the update, you'll be on the July 1 security patch level. For the Galaxy Note 4, your software version will be bumped up to either N910TUVU2EPG2 (a 309.9MB download) or N910T3UVU2EPG2 (coming in at 281.27MB), depending on which exact model you have. For the Galaxy Note Edge, the new software is version N915TUVU2DPG2 which requires a 328MB download to install.

People are already getting update notifications for these, so if you own a Note 4 or Note Edge purchased from T-Mobile you should too pretty soon, if you haven't already. Of course the completion of the rollout to all devices out there will take at least a few days, so if you simply can't wait go to Settings > System > About device and try to manually get the new release.

Phone was fine until the update, now it just either keeps restarting and sometimes doesn't even load at all or crashes when it is running. Time to ROOT it me thinks..
