WSJ: Audi, BMW, and Daimler agree to buy Nokia's HERE mapping business for around $2.7 billion

Himanshu, 22 July, 2015

Just last week a New York Times report said that Nokia's HERE mapping business might be sold to a consortium of German auto-makers, and now Wall Street Journal is reporting that Audi, BMW, and Daimler have agreed "in principle" to purchase the unit.

Although the exact figure isn't yet known, the deal is said to be priced at over €2.5 billion ($2.7 billion), which is considerably less than the $4 billion amount the Finnish company was reportedly expecting.

Should the deal go through, the automakers plan to invite other companies like Fiat Chrysler Automobiles NV, Renault SA, PSA Peugot Citroën, Ford, Toyota, and General Motors to invest in the business, the report notes.
