Xiaomi has officially confirmed that its upcoming Mi 5 flagship smartphone will be powered by Qualcomm's latest Snapdragon 820 SoC. The confirmation came in the form of a Weibo post from the company's co-founder and Senior VP Wanqiang Li.

In addition to confirming SD820 chipset, Wanqiang Li also revealed that the Mi 5 has entered mass production and the company is making sure that there's enough stock when the handset is released, which he said will happen after the Chinese Spring Festival next month.

His post was quoted by Xiaomi CEO Jun Lei, who revealed that he has been using the smartphone for some time. Jun Lei had recently also said that the device is "worth waiting for."

The Mi 5 has been the subject of several rumors and leaks until now. Its rumored specs include 5.2-inch display with 1080p or QHD resolution, 3GB/32GB and 4GB/64GB memory options, 16MP/13MP camera combo, 3,600 mAh battery, and Android 6.0 Marshmallow. It is also said to feature the world's smallest and fastest fingerprint sensor on the home button.
