Seeing a phone which have more ram than most computers on your casual shops around you lagy and buggy is not possible.
Its like if you buy a MC Laren or Ferrari or Bugati Chiron and going from Vienna to paris which is 1400 kilometers by speed of 20-30 miles per hour. Would be quiote a strange feat for such car.

You can update ... moreYeah, but you interact the most with the software and it overall has the biggest impact on the user's experience. For example, I had a realme 8 Pro and the software for some reason was very very buggy and laggy at times, which honestly left me very disappointed and changed it 5 months after buying it

You can update any app for several years with said specs of the phone the app will works.
Whether you get OS updates or security patches it does not matter that much.
Even something like good old Samsung S3 mini can still works properly and is a 10 years old device it will handle most basic tasks with ease.
Same can be with something bit never like Xiaomi Redmi note 4 or so.
It does not matter much.
This hardware can keep with app updates for several years witout any issues.
For a security reasons i wouldnt use my phone as a credit card no matter what and no matter the brand, Had bad experiences in life rather will draw and swipe my credit card than use my phone or smartwatch instead.

The upgrades over the Z50 Ultra are small, and ZTE'S software support is absolutely trash, non-existent pretty much. Good hardware for nothing if the software is shit. Even though I like the design, I'd rather choose the OP12, GT5 Pro, iQOO 12 and pretty much many other new phones out there. A shame indeed, since ZTE'S got potential, but until they fix the software, it's a no for me...

nubia lover, 21 Dec 2023you can probably count on 1-2 android version (15-16) and 3... moreWell, in past ZTE claimed the support of major OS versions for a year ahead + some security updates (mostly it was a year and thats it).
Now starting from Z40 line (Z40 Pro, Axon 40 Ultra) they arrived with Android 12 and My OS12, and got updated to A13/ MyOS13 and the plans for next year is to bring A14 / MyOS14 too, so the update timeline seems extender for a 2 year support at least now with minor updates in between. 2 years I call something as pretty acceptable, well at least.

It's amazing how Nubia keeps making phones this insane but always with midrange cameras you would find on 400 dollar Xiaomi. Front and sides screams amazing and premium. Back screams weird and bad taste, and camera hardware screams cheap. I would be all over this phone with a back design that doesn't look scrambled and all over the place and an IMX989 with a 5x telescope with 50MP 1/2". Pitty, really.
