Can the OS be updated on this phone, has anyone done so... moreI have updated the software/firmware to the latest official version. I think there aren't enough around to get hackers interesting in cooking up their own firmware though, if that's what you are looking for.
Also, don't expect updates to newer versions of Android, I think Acer is likely to focus on the upcoming E120 and E130 more.

Marc, 06 Jun 2010Please!!! How do I change the language from Arabic to English?Hi Marc, hope you managed by now.
If not and for anyone else: changing language: go into settings (hammer&wench icon), select the 3rd last entry (the 8th, so you can also press the down button 8 times - the one below that is Touch Calibration and is the only one that doesn't have a subtext, at least in English), then select the first entry (there are only 2, the bottom one is TouchPal keyboard stuff).
Now you should find English as one of the entries.

A few additions to the specifications and some comments from my one week experience:
- the USB is the micro-USB type connector (the one that will be standard on all phones 'soon')
- the radio has RDS
- according to the manual, the max uSDHC card size is 32GB (max for the SDHC standard)
- there was a 2 GB uSD card in the box; not big, but nice to get started
- transfer speed from PC to phone uSD card was decent (over 5MB/s on a card that does the same when in a cardreader); perhaps the phone can do it faster, but I don't have a faster card
- having the uSD slot on the side is great, one can unmount the card from the menu somewhere, and then exchange it - none of the 'turn of phone since the uSD is under the battery'-nonsense which is common on so many phones nowadays
- there is GPS, and A-GPS (but as always with A-GPS you need data transfer for that, since I don't have a good data contract I've only used std GPS), but no onboard maps or navigation - I tried Andnav2 but was unable to load a route; as a map with a dot where you are it's functional, and for tracking it's fine as well (I recommend GPStest to get an overview of the GPS data: speed, altitude, sats, etcetc)
- there is no Android Market, but installation from .apk files (on the uSDcard) is done just by browsing there and clicking the name; there's a setting where one has to allow the phone to install non-market stuff, but this was configured to be allowed out of the box
- the phone has 2 music players, one is the standard android player (I think), the other the mentioned Nemo player
- both players also play ogg vorbis, but I did experience a few stutters at some point - I've not been able to trigger stuttering with high activity; it seems the relatively slow processor is still fast enough; ogg vorbis is gapless, contrary to mp3 (at least the ones I tried which are gapless on pc); for flac I used andless, but I heard lots of stutters, once every 10 mins or so
- the on-screen keyboard is tiny on this small screen, but contrary to some reviews, you don't have to be very precise, due to the Cootek Touchpal keyboard technology, which takes into account that you may have typed the adjacent key, and therefore will propose all kinds of word variants with adjacent letters; it takes some getting used to, but mistyping is basically no longer a big penalty
As mentioned here in the comments and elsewhere, the negative points are few, but clearly there:
- no wifi
- no compass, accelerometers, proximity, etc sensors; then again, it's just a phone...
- low res at qvga, some android apps for cupcake (1.5) do expect/work well only on higher screen resolutions, so not all compatible apps work well
- relatively low clock speed; other phones (much more expensive for sure) are somewhat more snappy, but it's no slouch by far
All in all, for the price (~150 euros in Germany) a great phone, well above all feature phones in this price range that I know of.
