Acer DX900 to unveil a dual-SIM PocketPC at the MWC 2009

03 Feb, 2009

A week ago Acer announced their intentions to step into the mobile phone market this year. Their first handset will be Windows Mobile powered with dual-SIM support and high-speed 3G connectivity.

As we already informed you, Acer bought the cellphone manufacturer E-Ten last year. Since then the company kept silence over their future mobile phone plans. Fortunately Acer announced last week that they will introduce their first smartphones on the upcoming MWC 2009 in Barcelona.

The Acer DX900 is identical to the unreleased E-Ten Glofiish DX900. The phone design and specs were known before the merger, but it never got to the retail market in large volumes.

Acer DX900 will be the first dual-SIM device, which will support high speed HSDPA/UMTS connection along with the standard GSM/EDGE on both its SIM card channels.

The rest of the specs include GPS and Wi-Fi connectivity, a 2.8-inch TFT touchscreen with VGA resolution and 3 megapixel autofocus snapper.

There is no official announcement of the Acer DX900 just yet, but we expect that to happen in mid-February at the Mobile World Congress. Nevertheless the phone is already available for pre-order at a retailer in UK (check the source below).
