Adobe unveil Flash Player 10.1 - the first multiplatform one yet

Adobe Flash Player 10.1 will be the first of its kind to support the full package of Flash services and will come for most of the mobile and desktop OS - Windows Mobile, Palm webOS, Android, Symbian and Blackberry OS, along with the Linux, Mac OS and Windows.

Today Adobe announced their new Flash Player 10.1, which will be the first consistent runtime release courtesy of the Open Screen Project. That means when you install the player you will be able to use Flash content directly from your OS file manager, web browser and streaming applications.

The browser-based runtime will allow viewing all the Flash content on the Web, playing streaming videos, interacting with games, banners, ads, etc. Following the new technologies the Flash Player 10.1 will support all popular touch gestures (including multi-touch ones), the accelerometer functions and stylus inputs. As you may expect the player will be happy to use all the CPU and GPU power your device packs to give you the best experience.

Adobe Flash Player 10.1 will be available for Windows Mobile, Google Android, Palm webOS, Symbian and Blackberry OS plus their big desktop siblings - Windows, Linux and Mac OS. As you may notice iPhone OS is not included, but that's to be expected.

The first beta versions are expected later this year so stay tuned.
