alcatel 1x Android Go smartphone goes out of stock shortly after launch

Announced at this year's MWC in February, the alcatel 1x Android Go smartphone went up for pre-order last month, with launch set for this week. A quick look at Amazon's listing for the device now reveals it's already out of stock.

There's no info on when the stock will be replenished, but the retailer is letting you place orders just in case you want to get the $100 handset shipped as soon as it's back in stock.
As the price tag indicates, the 1x is an entry-level smartphone that comes with a MediaTek MT6739 chipset, 5.3-inch (18:9) touchscreen, 8MP/5MP camera combo, 1GB/16GB memory config, fingerprint sensor, and a 2,460mAh battery. It runs Android Oreo (Go Edition), which is specifically developed for low-end hardware.

Not a big surprise that its selling well, as the low-end makes up the majority of sales. Sounds like they might have had more demand for the product than they were expecting.

"All our products sold out today but we will not tell you how much is sold. Hahaha." Typical marketing.
