Almost any android with a mid-range quality can work smooth and fine but you have to know what to do with it...for example...deactivate screen animations from developer options...deactivate all apps u don't need...i don't use google play store,only alcatel's store..i don't use google account or any app who runs in background by itself...to bad i can't post a screen recorder to see how smooth and fast is idol 4 or even idol 3 or huawey p8 lite if u know to manage the android os

Rama, 25 Jul 2016What phone should I buy? Alcatel idol 4 or Xiaomi redmi note 3?Redmi Note 3, for a smaller phone I recommend the Nexus 5X. Just depends on what you want you want, a phablet or standard sized phone? Don't buy an SD617 phone because it sucks ok.
And just in case you want my opinion on the Idol 4s, well it cost $399 and that is ridiculous, considering you could get the much, much better One Plus 3 for the same price.

Rama, 26 Jul 2016Thanks for the widespread information, but how about gamin... moreI'm not a gamer at all but i installed one game...deer chasing sniper shooter 3d...and i played about 10min....i can't play more 'cause it's borring for me....ok...the image is nice...smooth..no lag.the phone got worm after 5-6 mins but that happens in VR to...it's becouse is covered with glass and the frame...well...it's very hard to tell but believe me..is not metal...is plastic made to look like metal...for an easy gamer is ok but if you like to play many games one after another hours and hours i don't think this phone is good for you..maybe idol 4s

Can you try to play these games and write the results (at least a few) it lag or no?

Alcatel Idol 4 / 4s has the strongest and purest sound in the world of mobile phones over the next 2.3 years (maybe longer), thanks to the boom by using keys that sound volume increases to 3.6 W. fantastic, stronger than the Nexus 6p, all HTC, ZTE Axon 7 ... not to forget the beautiful screen ...

There is a preinstaled game...lamper vr....wich works fine,probably 'caouse is optimized but of you download very hard games for VR...well...they run good but not great.....videos...depends by the quality of the videos....youtube looks good in VR but only the new videos with high resolution...there's not lag in VR but there's a lot of pixelation science is only a fhd display...fulldive cinema apk is great for 2d movies and vaar's player is good for 3d videos.
Final conclusion: Idol 4 manage any situation you wanna do with it but i think it's primary destination is multimedia...that jbl speakers dlow your mind!!screens image is great...but not for VR.....what i like the most at this phone is the is an anti-borring phone....is like Alfa Romeo's cars....sometimes it can get you some incredible sensations and sometimes is a litbe dit disapointing.....i have this phone for almost one month and i like it more and more...

I have tested Idol 4 (German VR version) and I have two problems:
1) The speakers location, they are at the phone edge, so during a call, the phone doesn't cover my ear hole, but instead I must hold phone in some strange and uncomfortable position.
2) The network sensitivity, I can see the operator antenna from my window, it's about 500 meters away and all others phones are constantly showing max 4G signal. But Idol 4 shows only 10-20% signal and it won't keep 4G connection, it jumps between E, H+ and 3,5G - I have never seen this with any other phone. Also seems antenna is located in bottom, so just holding a phone lowers signal even more.
I thought the network sensitivity is maybe sim card or hardware related, so I replaced sim card and also Amazon sent me a replacement phone. But the problem is same. Maybe it's related to mobile operator, as some users from other countries are happy and some unhappy.
So I think I return the phone and keep looking some other, max 5,2" phone, probably will wait for the Nexus 2016. Nextbit Robin is also alternative, but it dosn't have metal frame, so it's very fragile.

Ats, 24 Jul 2016I skipped Nexus 5X, mainly due lack of SD card and dual sim... moreDragontrail has a slighly lower value of Vickers hardness (590-650 I think). Gorilla Glass has a max hardness of 750 VC. This means that Gorilla Glass is slightly harder to scratch.

Rama, 24 Jul 2016Hi, Huawei p9 lite good phone, maybe better then idol 4. It... moreBut the processor on the p9 lite isnt a snapdragon, it is an HiSilicon. Also the p9 lite does not have a gyroscope so if you want to play pokemon go you can not turn on the AR.

Idol 4 have it all + have stereo speakers and JBL headphones included and instead on Gorilla Glass, it have Dragontail, in front and rear. Huawei -s hardware is quite OK, but I don't like what they have done with the Android, the EMUI is terrible.
CPU is OK for me, phone heats sometimes, but they do all and it doesn't bother me.

It has better battery life, processor (Quad-core 2.0 GHz Cortex-A53 + quad-core 1.7 GHz Cortex-A53) new design of android Emotion UI 4.1. But Huawei p9 lite don't have gyroscope, wich mean you can't play vr games.
Nexus 5x have Corning Gorilla glass 3, good processor Snapdragon 808, Adreno 418 and fingerprint. Actually about the processor better phone is Huawei p9 lite

Which one should i pick - Nexus 5x or Idol 4? I don't have any specific requirements, though i like listening to music mainly through headphones. I mostly seek a good performance that could last me 2-3 years.
I heard about the lags in Nexus 5x and seeing that Idol 4 comes with 3 GB i am thinking of getting it (also the promise of good music quality is very tempting too), but there is overheating issue that Snapdragon 617 processor has (or at least i heard of that) and no Gorilla Glass on Idol 4 (?) (I am not sure about that).... Other similar phones in this price range like Moto G4 Plus or Huawei P9 lite come with 2 GB of RAM in my country. So what could be the best choice for me?

I really want to buy this phone... In my country it cost 299€ There's many other phones with good spec for 250, 300€ But i want this one because of packaging and desin... Snapdragon 615 isin't very good processor and i wondering if this phone don't lag after 1 or 2 years, are this phone good for games like: Modern Combat, Real racing 3, Nova?
