but the problem is rooted phones wont receive OTA updates. Alcatel blocked updates to Rooted phones. You have to carry it to the service center to fully flash the device which makes all your data get erased...
coz this is what happened with me.. i rooted the device and installed many fonts but when the update released i couldnt updated it even after cleaning the root. so finally i had to carry it to service center.
But recently i found a solution to install fonts without root. that is from recovery itself. TWRP recovery does the good job. But it is a long process..

3 Months before I bought this model. Mobile touch glass broken just slipped from 2 ft height. Damn sure that they are not using “CORNING GLASS”. Worst service in Chennai not picking calls and by direct visit they are asking for Rs.9000/- for changing the glass. Utter waste of money.
Alcatel providing the mobiles for low price and they are making money in service. I suggest don’t go for these type of mobiles rather get a branded well known mobiles.
I WASTED MY MONEY YOU DON’T……

I got the Alcatel idol X+ in India. I dropped the phone. The glass and digitizer has broken. Service centee is asking for Rs 8.5k for repair. Phone costs 15k. Any method by which I can avoid the service center n repair it myself?

yes after turning off 3G, there is no singal drop issue.. .So 3G is the issue.!!

Here you can switch off 3G service.

I have this phone for a month now. I got it with Android 4.2.2 and updated it to 4.4.2 using the mobile upgrade I downloaded from Alcatel website. I haven't had a single problem. No issues whatsoever. This phone is great.

Yes I am on latest version, but still facing lot of issue with the network drop and battery drains fast.. My usage is minimal but still battery does not last for even a day :(

I am on latest firmware version, but still i face network drop issue/battery drains fast/signal shows roaming at home network.

udaa, 09 Nov 2014I have three major issues with the phone.
1) Signal drop... more1. Did you apply to the latest patch. My 4.4.2 version had this 194MB patch applied and then I felt the signal drops got reduced. Also you can switch off 3G and use only 2G. That also helped me.
2. No idea about that.
3. Did you disable all the junk software which you are not using? Did you turn off GPS and network when not in use. With moderate use, i charge my phone once in 4 days. I feel this is very good battery life. I disabled all the apps which I do not use.

This phone came with android 4.2.2 and it was pretty spectacular. After its two update not so, it now faces these issues :-
1. Poor battery backup
2. Audio via loudspeaker is too low. Introduced the new equalizer which doesn't work that well
