This looks like a nice phone, always been a fan of Alcatel. Also, this phone is now listed on the Orange UK website as "coming soon". Hopefully it'll be cheap :)

I think a lot of people had somehow confused the words "cheap phones" with "bad phones". Cheap phones, with minimal features, aren't bad at all. It's all common sense. They are designed to make phone calls and messenging and are easy to use. I can tell you a lot of people (like my brother, dad and mom) are looking just for such phones. In my opinion, people who bought high-end phones and never used their features are insecure people.

But it is? Have a look at the S988w, a full fledged smartphone by Alcatel with GPS navigation, wifi, 3g... the whole lot.

When I said 3G, I was not just referring to this phone... In my opinion, I think Alcatel should venture to 3G or Wi-Fi enabled phones to give its buyers more choice... I love Alcatel but it is not just keeping pace with the new trends in technology.

i think that alcatel has no good phones really, but this one look's promessing, if they put the USB 2.0 like the almost 90% of the other brands maybe can sell more phones :D

I think alcatel cannot add a tv out feature because it will make this model expensive. This model is built for people who are practically using phone basic functions.

knight rider, 20 Jul 2009Why do you expect 3g on a sub 100$ phone? Besides... 3g in ... moreIf alcatel upgrade the usb into 2.0, I will rather buy this and will not pursue to spend the amount I've saved for HTC Touch Pro2 or LG GM200. If alcatel cannot upgrade the usb I will still buy this if at least a tv out feature is added.

knight rider, 20 Jul 2009Why do you expect 3g on a sub 100$ phone? Besides... 3g in ... moreI just hope that alcatel will produce a mobile phone with tv out and tv record function. Also, if alcatel will upgrade the usb of this model from 1.1 to 2.0. If that happen, the money that I have saved for HTC Touch Diamond2 will be spent for this model.

Why do you expect 3g on a sub 100$ phone? Besides... 3g in comparison is not used by a lot of people compared to the regular services.

Why can't Alcatel advance one step? I mean does it always have to stay on 2G????

Knight Rider , 16 Jul 2009As far as i know the usb is 2.0 compatible. The official site states that this is usb 1.1. That site does not state that this is 2.0 compatible. I think this is a big mistake by alcatel.

Knight Rider, 09 Jul 2009No this phone will not be expensive, 80-100$. Cool phone though.Knight Rider, is there any chance that alcatel will upgrade the usb of this phone from 1.1 version to 2.0 version? Version 1.1 is not good.

ho man...in my opinion that "feature" is unnecessary..but i guess they have to do something to the extra space there
