I've been using this phone for a week. It's very nice phone. DUAL SIM + JAVA + WIFI + 16Gb MicroSD + BT (very good in pairing with Plantronics Headset). Almost any application (java or no java) could be set to connect internet in different way. That's a very nice messager phone. It's a bit complicated in some ways, but it can do things one way or another

Those who are complaining about poor YouTube video quality. Here is a trick to use 240p 3gp videos with mpeg-4 video and aac audio codec.By default it uses amr codec poor quality 3gp.Dial *#364463#,select Misc.>Internet Application>User Agent>N72.You can later use default to restore to original. Now open YouTube from wap browser and click HQ to play 240p hq 3gp.

AnonD-45415, 08 Oct 2012what a detailed review without any faltu bakwas really n... moreThanks,if you have read my bad point#17 carefully,it has support for 4 division 3.5mm jack only. This jack has an inbuilt mic with it.You would see this with almost all Nokia and Samsung phones. There are four divisions in jack with mic support. You are probably using 3 division headsets with no mic included. There is some internal hardware difference between Nokia and Samsung 4-division headsets with mic.If you have ever tried Samsung headsets on Nokia or vice versa, you would have noticed that they don't work correctly.Either sound is missing from left/right earphone or sound is strange or mic does not work.As I said you will need an adapter with mic and 4-division jack and slot for inserting a 3-division jack of external headphones you might be using. This mobile supports Nokia headsets with mic support but not Samsung.

I am from India.I got it in black color from an online shop for Rs.3700.Before giving my views I want to tell respected site admins that it is a quad band phone. You can dial *#364463# and choose Network setting and then choose band selection, ignore the WiFi app warning and you will see option to select 850/900/1800/1900 or whatever freq you want. Also there are other option like increasing call volume. For this select Audio>Speech Enhancement>Normal Mode>Parameter 7 and enter 65000,then back and update parameter.

Goods:1)Looks good, nice build quality, not like other china branded phones.
2)Touch is good for a touch and type phone.
3)You can minimize installed java apps, but only one at time.It does not pause your downloads and you can do other tasks.
4)Text ebook reader is very good.
5)WiFi detection is very good.Works with hidden/WPA2 AES PSK mode.
6)You can answer call on second sim even if first sim is using GPRS connection(only if you are using internet through java apps and not wap browser).
7)There are widgets on standby screen like weather,WiFi/bt/silent/vibration toggles, rss news feeds, music player.
                          8)Radio reception is excellent.
9)YouTube works well with UDP values 6770,6990 in streaming settings.
                          10)Facebook,twitter,email,messengers included are OK.
11)You can use it as webcam, modem using usb cable included in box.It also charges via usb.Battery Backup is nice.
12)Signal reception is decent.Messaging is also good.Conversation mode is available.
13)Screen brightness can be controlled along with keypad lights.
                          14)LED indicator for missed calls/messages.
                          15)QWERTY keypad is very good.
16)You can switch off any sim without restarting phone or opening battery cover.
17)You can install java apps in memory card also.Java RAM is 5MB.

Bad's:1)Heavy java apps make the phone restart or do not work at all.
2)Few signed apps available for this phone.Unsigned java apps show too much warnings.
3)Bluetooth does not support file transfer protocol, which means you cannot browse files on SD card in your PC or from other mobile. It asks storage option(store in phone or card) for every sent file to it,which makes sending large number of files through Bluetooth time consuming. But file transfer speed is very good.Bluetooth is also not supported in java, which means there will be no Bluetooth file transfer through java.Bluetooth remote control will not work.A2DP works well though.
4)No copy/paste option in file manager. You will need a signed java file manager for that.Fortunately signed uc browser solves the problem.Or you can install medieval Bluetooth file transfer. Its BT functions won't work but you will get copy/paste.Use any date b/w 2009 to 2010 for installation of bt manager otherwise installation would fail.
5)Call/Headset/Loudspeaker volume could be too low for some persons, who are used to high volume Nokia phones.Nokia headsets work well but Samsung headsets will not work with this phone.
6)Music sound quality is below average.Sound output is too low.Sound is decent only in part/dance setting.Strangely, music player also detects mp4/3gp files like Nokia 5130 but plays only audio part. There was no need for this as it has a good video player.
7)Video player can play 320*240 videos upto 15 fps.You can play mp4/3gp.Any video above 15 fps is sure to fail.Screen switches off during video playback. You can use bt file manager to see videos as screen does not switch off in java apps. You will need to do it in java settings.
8)Camera quality is below average even Nokia X2-01 VGA camera. It is only good for taking images only for contact images.Camera performance is very bad in low light.Video capture is 176*144 at 7.5 fps!Not enough fro even MMS!
9)No option to turn off warning tones in general mode.An annoying beep plays during headset plugging in/out or at an error.
10)WiFi speed may be slower than your normal internet speed as it is only b/g.
11)Image viewer is good but lags in slideshow mode due to slow 208 Mhz processor.
12)You can record calls in high quality wave, but there is no button shortcut for that.No setting in Radio for sound format as it records in amr only.Strange!
13)Built in opera mini 5 is too slow.Use opera mini 7 and uc browser 8.6 for best results.Opera mini 4.4 and uc browser 7.9 will work best for touchscreen haters.
14)QWERTY keypad delete key does not delete, you will have to select delete from options.
15)No text copy paste option in text editor. So copying text from webpages in opera mini/uc browser is out of question.
16)Language is English only in Indian Version.
17)3.5 mm Headphone jack works only with 4-division 3.5 headsets and not with regular 3-division stereo cables. You will have to use adapter for enjoying music on large speakers(only option left after low output from loudspeaker and headsets).
18)No theme support.Only three color themes available.
19)Data transfer through PC suite is ultra slow.It is better to transfer songs through a card reader if you have large memory card.

Verdict: In spite of so many drawbacks it is my favorite phone in below Rs.5000 category.I have used Nokia Asha 200 and Samsung chat(shit) phones.Still I will prefer this phone.

I sold my Asha 202 and get this OT 813D and I'd say it's a steal. I did get it around $71-72 USD (converted). The Asha 202 was a little more expensive than 813D but you'll be getting more from this Alcatel phone. I could do away if it doesn't have a touchscreen which confuses me a little cause it was somewhat a bit hard to be resistive, and a bit soft to be a capacitive.

I bought this phone because I wanted a cheap dual sim with wifi and keyboard (usually got nokia, but I couldn't find a model matching these criteria). Touch screen was a nice surprise (didn't expect when I bought); Good battery life, reliable, light, with a good display and features.
                                      Just disappointed about "contacts" which is not foreseeing name-surname, but only name (this caused a "manual" migration of my contacts);
but a part this, I think you can't get better for the same price.
