Knight, what I said is part true, part false :P
I meant, some of the default ringtones, are mp3's and you can assign them to SMS and/or to calls. BUT you can't add new ringtones, nor assign the mp3 songs as ringtones =(
That sucks so bad about this phone... anyway, it's so cheap that I really don't care.
In a few months I'm buying a SE W300 (as soon I get a job...)

does your side-player butons backlite works? my doesn't. in the picture the plyer butons haves the same red backlite like the rest of the keyboard.

Guys, I've got the phone today. It's great for a low-budget phone. Highly Recommended.
For the ones with problems with the mp3 player:
If you need to, format the MicroSD card. Insert the SD, connect the phone to the PC. Go to Menu>Settings>USB Connection>Activate. Then, your PC will recognize the card and it will appear as "Removable Drive". There should be a folder named "mp3" (if not, create it). Then paste your mp3's there (IMPORTANT: the cellphone doesn't read subfolders, so just put your files in that folder, with no subfolders!)

First of all read the manual of the phone! It is all written in there how you should make it work! Second, format the card in the phone then try to paste your music on the card. Then if that does not work... try to create a folder called "music" or "Mp3" on the memory card and put your music in that folder... that should make it work. But like I said, read the manual, it is all in there... or it should be.

No, Mp3's only work on headphones in this model. The new version of this phone however the OT-E805 will be able to play Mp3's on its speaker.

Pros: For the cheap price tag you get a great music handset.
Cons: Poor call quality blights the otherwise excellent entry-level phone and a lack of cameras might put off the happy slappers ;).
Also Consider: BenQ-Siemens E61 (Virgin Mobile) is a winning music mobile with a 512MB memory, USB cable and earphones.
Killer App: Music Player, for a £10 phone aimed at the youth market, the E801s musical capablilites are well beyond its budget status.
The E801 is a great first mobile phone and you can't go wrong with the £10 price tag from Orange (UK).

i need some help with a 1gb micro sd card i bought that does not work, it just says micr sd car error. i formated it. erroro checked it made files called mp3 in caps and lower but it still isn't working. please help.

Send Cellatel an email and I am sure they will give you an option to buy it... and also... if sufficient amounts of people ask... I am also sure they will set up an online shop.

In fact, WWW.CELLATEL.COM is exactly the same as WWW.TCL-TA.COM. You can see the accessories but you cannot buy them.

www.cellatel.com does sell extra's to the phone... maybe they have no online shop available yet... but you could always try and send them an email and ask! About www.protel.de, yes it is German but they have world wide delivery and I am sure that they have the headphones... if you don't understand the German language I could help you... send me a mail at un112@msn.com and I will guide you step by step through the buying process.

WWW.PROTEL.DE is a great website to buy Alcatel accessories. Shame it's in German. WWW.CELLATEL.COM is the Alcatel website in the USA. There is no way to buy accessories through it.
Any other ideas how to get accessories? I'm looking for the headphones.

I think the phone is pretty solid and considering when I bought it, it cost me 20 GBP(with 10 GBP credit). Mine came with the 128 mb card - shame I didn't get it a bit later so to get the 512mb!!
I couldn't get my computer to recognise the phone via the USB for love nor money.
So I bought a little Micro SD to SD adapter for under 5GBP. The micro card slides into the adapter and the card then behaves just like a regular SD card.
I read the earlier posts and took the advice to (a) format the Micro SD card and (b) create a folder on the card called MP3. Once I copied the MP3's I wanted to listen to onto the card via windows explorer, it all worked fine.
Sound quality is fine, headphones not too bad on the comfort front. Kinda wish I could use my own headphones, but hey, for the price, I'm not too bothered!
