I bought this OT-s853 tow years ago,
and this a som... moreim saddened by your post as it is not what is going on with my phone...aside from signal loss, which is true coz celphone signal is not always that constant...i think i dont see any signal problem with my phone... other celphones dont have signal in my place, (will i live in a remote place), no wonder why sometimes my neighbor got jealous on my phone...they sometimes borrow it for signal...
about sensitivity, yes it is not that fast as you think...but i dont think it would take you 5 minutes to open any folders...to open my phone, i need 2 minutes with my memory card with it, but without memory card, no hassle, but still i would say, it isnt that long...my friend's alcatel (not s853), when it was freaked up, i dont know the reason, he went to the warranty shop, and in 2 weeks, it was returned and now it was as good as it was...
kindly check your firmware version, my s853 has 18B, please make sure it is the same as mine...or upgrade it in the warranty shop that you know...they will update it if it has no 18B firmware...

This phone will not hang up if it has 18b or higher firmware version. But just try to reset your phone. Avoid putting any unsuppoted files into phone's memory or memory card as it cause hang-up. About the network problem, there is always network signal problem in any place. In the Philippines for example, there are places where Sun Cellular network don't have signal or it's signal is very hard for the phone to capture. Just try using the network provider in your country that has the best signal and that have signal in all areas in your country or even in your place.

I bought this OT-s853 tow years ago,
and this a some of problems i found:
1-not HI sensitivity as i expected on the contrary easy to loss the network and pickup the network is very hard.
2-during i explore the phone option like my images,directory,messages,music,etc..phone hung up.
3- i went to the warranty company (Universal Engineering Co.)first time they did not take any action, the problems still.second time they are left (disappear)??? by the way this mobile made in china.
and now tow years i am suffering because of this mobile,what are you doing for this matter.thanks & regards

now that nelson and knight rider are making sure that every problem encountered is resolved...i hope that we are now all happy alcatel ot-s853 users... hooray!!! alcatel... cant wait for the next phone...

yes this unit is still available here in the philippines...well i saw it in cebu, ozamiz city, , cagayan de oro city, iligan city... though the last city might be the last thing on your mind due to some war going on hehehe... but graphics in cagayn de oro and RC goldline in cebu sold them....

yes i have tried installing pc suite with vista...and lol...some thing happened... and because the truth is the pc suite cannot really run on vista... only use the windows xp...coz i have tried it and it worked...no hassle...

Has anybody instaled the pc_suite for AlcatelS853 in a vista working pc? Eyerytime I try, I get the message: "This programm requires a newer windows version"!!!!!!

Exactly Nelson, It is best to email either one of us because I am also not always on this website either, however if anyone wants to know anything they can always email. And I will always answer within 2 days. My email is un112@msn.com.
Also... please remember people when restoring factory settings, everything in the phone is erased... only some images and ringtones preloaded remain (not even all of the ones you had orginally, so please mind that!!!...) so please be sure before you reset to backup the files you do not want to loose onto the PC or memory card. That way after the reset you will still have all of your favourite files.

Thanks Keenen. People using alcatel are really lucky enough because everytime they have problem/questions regarding the phone, Knight Rider, Nelson, Keenen and other experienced alcatel users are there to help them.
I heard somebody in our company asking why Knight Rider always post here "for questions regarding this phone, please email me..."

i think what you need to do is erase unnecessary messages, since i think that the celfone we have store messages in the sim card only...but should you need to restart the phone...just press ###847#, it will prompt you to the restore factory settings querry...just press yes...
to Squashling:
it might be that the OS of your computer is not suitable to the PC SUITE...it must have an OS of windows XP...check if it is windows XP, coz i tried also using windows vista, and PC suite will not run...and also, for an easy
use of your memory, just buy yourself a memory card reader, anyway, it is a bit lower priced nowadays...all you need to do with the memory card reader is plug it in the usb cable and voila! you just have to drag and drop your favorite music or clips...

Nelson, 10 Oct 2007That is the master reset code so anything you have stored i... morei cannot use anymore the phone for sending and receiving txt messages because the memory is full. what is the reset code for that? the dicitionary is already full. thats why i cannot use the sms feature. thanks..

please help :S im having problems with the pc suite setup to this phone im stuck'd at where i have to connect the phone to my pc... when i connect the usb cable to my phone and pc my pc says a sound and my phone show the usb logo on the screen however nothing happens then even waited 15 minutes still nothing... it's like my pc is rejecting the phone without notifying me =( please help. thanks

keenen, 30 Jul 2008well how i wish it can hold up to that 2 GB memory you were... morewell how i wish it can hold up to that 2 GB memory you were talking...but as to the manual that was with the phone when we buy it, it can only hold up to 512 MB for normal operation... but with the help of GSMarena they were able to use 1GB of memory and told us that it can handle such memory...well thanks to them... so my advise is to treat your phone as a phone...not an mp3 player or a PSP player...well i have 150 songs and 30 games on my phone but i always make sure that it has still free space of 20% and my phone memory at 95%...thats how my phone is now...
