Alleged OnePlus 3 shows up in live images

George, 09 May, 2016

OnePlus isn't strictly following a one-year update cycle for its top-end smartphones, the One was announced in April 2014, and the 2 went official in July 2015. So whenever the OnePlus 3 arrives, it'll be on time, but rumors point to the end of this month.

Anyway, an alleged working unit of the OnePlus 3 has surfaced in the hands of a user, who shared the experience on Weibo. The rear appears to be the typical sandstone affair, though perhaps with a touch finer texture, or at least that's what the low-res spy shot suggests.

What's not at all in line with previous models is the camera and flash arrangement, as well as the top antenna band. Several generations of HTC One handsets plus the recently leaked Samsung Galaxy C5 all sport a very similar design. It's that same picture though, that hints that the device is indeed a OnePlus model - the power button and volume rocker are joined by a third physical control, likely the three-position notifications priority switch, introduced on the OnePlus 2.

On the front you get a sizeable chin to accommodate the fingerprint reader, but a more compact top bezel. What doesn't go unnoticed is the slight curve in the side edges of the display (commonly referred to as 2.5D glass), most visible in the top left of the image.

In terms of specs, the rumors have settled on a 5-inch FullHD display, so we might be seeing a larger model later on (how does OnePlus 3Plus sound?). Snapdragon 820 is said to be powering things, and RAM is either going to 4GB or 6GB, depending on who you ask (and why not both). Word is out on pricing as well, with a number just above $300 being mentioned. We'll keep waiting for official confirmation on all of the above.

Regardless, they still did copied. And that's a fact - successful or not.

Last years model looked awkward and ugly, this year's model is just boring and a direct copy of the HTC M series. This company has lost its touch with unique designs and fast optimized software.
