Still have this in 2022. Currently it is still running FireOS (customized KitKat) and I currently have it rooted. The only web browser that's modern that I can run on it is the Via Browser. PUBG still runs on KitKat but it's quite slow.

I have a Fire HDX 8.9" with original software. Awesome machine. You have Android 7 in yours. Did you notice a slowdown when you went from original OS to Android 7?
