Amazon Prime Video gets new UI that helps you find what's included with your Prime subscription

Amazon Prime Video is a streaming service, but also a hub that allows you to use other streaming services (e.g. Max). This is cool and all, but it can get a little confusing about what you can and can’t watch at no additional cost. Amazon is currently rolling out a redesigned UI that fixes that and brings other improvements too.

In the new UI, there are several tabs on the top row. By default, there is a Prime tab, which only shows movies and TV shows that are available with your Prime subscription. Next to that is the Subscriptions tab where you can add partner services.

The homescreen of Prime Video will still show additional content – that is titles that you have to rent/buy as well as content from the mentioned partner services (even ones that you are not subscribed to).

Additional services include the likes of Max, Paramount+, Starz, PBS, BBC, Shudder, MGM+, Crunchyroll and others. This varies between regions, of course.

To make it clear which title comes from where, the poster images for movies and TV shows will have the logo of the relevant streaming service on them. This way you can tell at a glance whether it's one of the services you subscribe to or not.

And you don’t even have to ask – the new UI also has AI features. Here, the artificial smarts are used to create bespoke recommendations for each user, which will help narrow down the thousands of available titles to a short list of things you might enjoy. Movie/show synopses are created with LLMs too.

Or you can go the old-fashioned route and just pick one of the titles that is popular in your region with the “Top 10” and “Trending Shows” categories. There is also Live TV with stations available 24/7 if you still can’t decide what to watch.

“With the improvements we have made to the user experience, customers will be presented with an easy-to-navigate entertainment destination where they can discover new titles and enjoy favorites, as well as sign-up to or switch add-on subscriptions with just a few clicks. Best of all, they can do this while using a single login,” said Kam Keshmiri, Vice President of Design at Prime Video.

I'm just waiting to drop my prime subscription. It feels like a complete waste. They constantly keep removing content and their interface is loaded with ads.

This is good, just hope their selection of included movies improves with this change!
