Android Pay’s Canadian launch leaked by press, solidifies earlier rumor of May 31 launch

Enrique, 31 May 2017

Today, a financial news website published a complete post of the payment service’s launch in Canada, only to be taken down within the first hour it was live. When users on Reddit couldn’t actually add any Canadian bank accounts to Android Pay, this is when they realized the website may have pulled the trigger a bit early.

Since earlier reports alleged that Android Pay was going to launch in Canada on May 31, this occurrence only gives more credibility to those allegations. Google is akin to launching things on Wednesdays, so this could very well be the real deal.

According to the post, BMO, CIBC, Banque Nationale, Scotiabank, Desjardins, President’s Choice Financial, ATB Financial and Canadian Tire Financial Services will be compatible at launch of the service.

Android Pay is compatible with all Android smartphones on KitKat 4.4 and above equipped with NFC.

It's also meant to support PayPal and it doesn't. Disappointing.

Why no support for TD or RBC? Was very excited for Android Pay but no TD support from the start? That sucks........
