Apple announces its App Store Award winners for 2023

As is tradition around this time of the year, Apple announced its App Store Award winners for 2023. There are nine categories ranging from iPhone and iPad apps and games of the year alongside winners for Mac, Apple Watch, Apple TV and Apple Arcade apps. Apple also crowned generative AI as its Trend of the Year.

AllTrails is the iPhone App of the Year for 2023 bringing comprehensive trail guides and outdoor exploration with detailed reviews and tips from community members.

Prêt-à-Makeup was selected as the iPad App of the Year offering a “true-to-life makeup sketchpad” for all users ranging from professional artists to casual users.

Honkai: Star Rail is this year’s iPhone Game of the Year. Lost in Play took iPad Game of the Year honors while Lies of P got Mac Game of the Year. Hello Kitty Island Adventure was crowned as the Apple Arcade Game of the Year.

I gotta say, you are right about this. I'm an Android user, but owned an iPod Touch 10 years ago. The App Store back then was much cleaner than today. Now, it's littered with generic poorly-made apps likely made by some random Chinese...

Same here. Finding an iOS app that performs a specific utility without constantly trying to milk your money is getting harder and harder. This is somewhat easier on the more developer friendly and sideloading friendly Android.
