Apple expected to launch updated iPod touch, nano, and shuffle today

Prasad, 15 July, 2015

Apple will be releasing updated versions of the iPod touch, iPod nano, and iPod shuffle, according to sources at 9to5Mac.

The updated iPod touch is said to have an updated camera, from 5 megapixel on the current model to an 8 megapixel sensor, likely the same 8 megapixel iSight camera found on the iPad Air 2. There will also be a new 64-bit chipset with M series motion co-processor. The new iPod touch will be available 16, 64 and 128GB models for $199, $299, and $399, respectively. It will be available in a new gold, blue, and pink color options.

The iPod nano and shuffle won't see much difference, other than the new color options.

It's odd that Apple is choosing to update the iPods now. The last time the company announced new iPods was back in 2012. Despite dropping sales, and Apple having even removed the iPod category from its website navigation bar, it's interesting to see some love being shown to the ageing iPod brand.
