I will tell you, they did not want to spend the money on the digital processor and the camera units themselves. Samsung makes a 3mp camera that would have been able to fit into the iPad 2 (most likely). Less MP means a smoother video recording in 720p but this could be ratified with proper software anyway. Once again Apple has done the bare minimum.

Please, what's the point of implementing a 3.2 or 5.0 MP camera on front or back? Do you ppl know how big a size of a picture can 1.0 MP or VGA produce? Besides that, when you can't really zoom that far, having a 5MP camera at the back is only a waste, unless you need a very large photo. =.="

Why is this considered as a phone? It cannot receive sms and make gsm calls (i don't know with 3g calls). Complicated. @_@

Im not a supporter of apple products, but i always go for practicality. Other android tablets may spot cameras with HD capability but who uses a tablet for recording vids? At least, it's very affordable at 500 bucks. I only want it for casual browsing, ebooks, and reading/presentation powerpoint slides.

The competitors of Apple are all at least 24 months behind, given that Apple released the original iPad in March last year. Apple have clearly innovated this industry and all the competitors are playing catch-up.
No one is able match Apple's form factor and length of operation. Sure the iPad and iPad2 don't have the extreme bells and whistles, but at the end of the day Apple are clearly ahead of the pack.

The iPad 2 is a fail as far as I am concerned. No USB slot. No SD/microSD slot. No flash support. The rear camera is a joke. Only 0.7 mp. This device, like the Steve Jobs keynote address at the launch is a joke. Apple as usual, still behind the times and still trying to catch up. And not doing a very good job at it. Perhaps the people at Apple need to pull their finger out and come up with a better device. Also like all Apple/Mac products overpriced to hell.

i was gonna buy ipad2 but it seems my expectations was very high for this..or the expectation that apple created..
don't know what to choose now..i'm between playbook and galaxy tab.any suggestions?

I have an iPad wi-fi + 3G model. I'm still hesitant to upgrade to 2nd gen. due to the following reasons:
1. still has no flash support
2. poor camera
3. still the lowest ram among other tablets (512mb vs. 1GB)
4. bluetooth capability is compatible with apple devices only

Why I have to 10.1screen with samsung tab?! I bit you if samsung tab fincationl smoothly and fast like iPad2.

Anonymous, 03 Mar 2011Can anyone tell me what would make this tablet special? You... moreCareful. Optimus Pad's 3D requires glasses unlike the 3D phone...which is no special feat, any display can do 3D if glasses are worn. There are ghetto 3D camera apps for the iPhone that require glasses too.
Honestly it depends on what the other tabs will end up costing. Samsung says it will reduce the price strategy of their tablets. iPads are relatively cheap to the competition and does what it needs to quite well.

Seems like a lot of haters for this product. But let's face it normal people won't use this to take pictures so it does not matter how much megapixel you have on it.
At any rate, apple still rules this segment with a commanding 90% share.
