Still loving this. The front facing camera is awful though, and while it's not a deal breaker, i'd take smaller bezels.

Al, 04 Aug 2018Hello guys I am a little lost and wondering if I should get... moreThe ipad 2018 should meet your needs, no point in paying over 300 more if you just want to do basic tasks. In regards to the "support" youre talking about, there have been a lot users of ipads and iphones who have confirmed that their device has slowed down more and more with the introduction of new updates.
This is partly why i havent updated my iphone 6s its still on ios 9, and i dont think I'll update my ipad 2017 past ios 10.3
However if i had more storage (iphone is 16gb and ipad is 32gb) the furthest i would update is to ios 11 and thats it.
So unless youre always playing the newest games like fortnite and whatnot, theres no point updating.

Hello guys I am a little lost and wondering if I should get the ipad pro(2017) 10.5 inch or the ipad 2018. Owning actually an ipad mini I find it a little difficult to picture the ipad pro in real life and worrying if I get it, It would turn out to be too big. My usage consist mainly of watching seeries ,videos some reading music and a very little amount of games.
Which is the best option to me? And which is the best deal considering the amount of money and the support that each device will get plus the lasting performance(over the years)?
Ps: is the pentil that essential to either of these two for a good usage?

Anonymous, 31 Jul 2018You didnt need to go into detail like that, the pro 10.5 sh... moreAgain, the $400 price difference does not compute to the slight improvements that are NOT so perceivable. I did an hour long comparison between the Pro 10.5 and the iPad 2018. The .7" difference in screen size is practically nothing to write about. The twice more screen refresh rate is not a huge issue - 60Hz is already so good. I can live with the 2GB RAM for the next 5 months till I can get the updated 12.9 Pro ($1200+ for the higher specs that I am willing to pay for). Bigger screen means better drawing area, but not getting the current one because it's getting a refresh this September - so, it is logical to hold off getting one till the announcement.
Yes, the smaller form factor of the 9.7" is handy, and fits exactly in my tiny Pacsafe sling bag. I would also agree the 10.5 Pro is a good size - for regular users. I've started using a tablet more often now than my Note8 when I'm home, or sitting down in the cafe doing some casual drawing/sketching. It is fantastic with Procreate!

Anonymous, 30 Jul 2018Ok but didnt you settle with this ipad? Thats 2gb ram, im s... moreI didn’t get the Pro 10.5” because the difference doesn’t justify the $400 extra with almost the same screen real-estate, no apparent parallax that can bother me when drawing. I wanted the 12.9 but there will be likely a refresh this October. It takes another 2 months for it to arrive in my region (December). I can’t wait that long (5 months) to finally get the hardware that works with Procreate.
IÂ’m cheap-skating on the iPad Pro 10.5, but I know I really want to get the 12.9.
For the meantime, I could live with the smaller maximum 33 megapixel (8,192 x 4,096, 2 layers) limitations on the iPad 2018, versus the 67 megapixel resolution (16,384 x 4,096, 4 layers) with any of the Pro because they have 4gb RAM. These are the maximum limitations if you go for higher resolutions with Procreate.
As for the higher storage memory capacity, I actually need the space for my 60+ GB (1000+) worth of architecture and art e-books and pdfs; video recording of my Procreate processes in 4K; and utilise storage for media entertainment without the need for internet connection. 128 GB seems to hit the right spot at this time as well.
So far, I am enjoying the Apple Pencil with Procreate and learning the basics of plotting perspective drawings with snapping grids and rulered lines. Just the thing I need. And if indeed the new iPad Pro 12.9” will come with 6GB RAM, I will think 100 megapixel resolution over the current 67 mp would give me a tremendous boost on making more elaborate, more impressive drawings/paintings for the next 3 years. I think that’s worth the wait.
