I've used it on both and works ok. for the ipad, you have to have the app launched on your phone for it to work I think. but "what's the point?" for me, while at work, my phone is off to the side while I use my ipad to do research.

parth, 16 Nov 2015guys.. i cant find whatsapp messanger in my ipad air ... ... morenope,the official whatsapp messenger is not available for ipad air. but you can do it unofficially by hacking. for that you need to jailbreak your ipad and also you need an iphone
