And a few hundred million might not seem a lot to Apple but every feature they leave out is purely so they make profit and means you just don't get a phone that's anywhere near as good as it could be.
But the difference with Android is the manufacturers make phones and throw every possible feature at it because once the phone is sold they have nothing more to do with it and Google provides all the services so you getting the most services at a competitive price, plus almost all Apps can run on external SD on Android.

My friend who is a developer said most apps cannot run off the sd card anyways, so it's almost useless, unless the user wants to store pictures and music.
But hey, Apple is the most profitable electronic company on the planet. No micro sd card doesn't seem like a problem. But yea, it comes down to this, if you don't want it, get the android device.

Anonymous, 06 Nov 2012if you can kindly provide me the link of this please do so.... moreWell yeah it is an option for Android manufacturers to leave out external memory but competition means they will lose sales because customers want no part of it, but people want IOS but because Apple would lose possibly hundreds of millions in profit if they included external SD customers are seriously losing out because of lack of memory and might still have to carry around a separate iPod to make up for what the iPhone lacks, where Android phones don't have that problem.

Anonymous, 06 Nov 2012if you can kindly provide me the link of this please do so.... moreObviously Androids compete with each other and they do give customers what they want, and over half a billion Androids sold people expect external memory because it does make the phone better and you don't need to carry a separate MP3 player because you just stick a memory card in when you running short, and anyone capable of being honest about Apple knows the only reason Apple will never include external memory is because they want people to also carry an iPod and end up buying a new iPhone or iPad if they run short of memory and Apple just refuses to give people the best device and experience possible because if you want IOS you have no choice but to live with their greed.
And most Apple users just don't bother complaining about things like this so Android is gonna keep getting more and more new features while IOS only gets what's profitable to Apple.

As far as I know, if one manufacturer decides to cut out the sd card slot, they will automatcially fall behind the competition because the other competition is offering the sd card slot. So it's not an option for them, even if they don't want to do it. Android competition is too fierce, as for ios, it's just apple, so apple doesn't really have to worry about another manufacturer using ios.

Anonymous, 05 Nov 2012oh, if storage is an issue, the buyer can simply buy a 32 o... moreThe reason Apple doesn't and probably won't ever include external memory is because of that planned obsolescence, because an 8gb iPhone 3g becomes useless as people's needs and tastes change over time, where an 8gb Galaxy S has plenty life left in it because you just add more memory.
And it's not about whether you can afford an Apple product or not because if you want 1 you buy it, but they really are designed so they not at all future proofed and quickly become fit for the trash because now memory is one of the most important things and Apple basically work a similar way to the US car industry where cars are basically disposable and not made to last.

This is why Asus and some other manufacturers have phased away from putting a sd card reader into the device. If "price" is an issue, simply don't buy the product. It's just like not everyone can afford a benz right? Don't buy it then. Just because the item is "overPriced" to some people doesn't mean it's a bad product. Also this is not an "android" device, so multitasking is not really an issue, as the average person is probably running 1 application at a time anyways.

And then of course Apple makes even more money because they design everything they make with a very short planned obsolescence.
