It's targeted to those who don't mind spending 2k on a iPad and professionals. The Air, Mini and the standard iPad are targeted to an average consumer. The Air series being the upper end while the standard iPad being on the lower end. Mini sits in between both models and the Pro is for those who want a Macbook with a touch screen essentially (mostly pros).

After his death the iPad line was decided to not cross lines with their macbooks. But given the time the horsepower and the (arm) software came so they are back to what Jobs was saying before his death.
Maybe tablets *are* the future (if properly developed). So basically they have added the same macbook specs on the iPad and wait to see how the market responds.
May be Steve Jobs was seeing more clearly than them. So they now push for both and see which will survive.

Sweet lord thank you for this upgrade in LCD technology slowly making its way to a mobile device
Hopefully smartphones get this maybe in 1 year (being super optimistic)
Tired of seeing all the OLEDs who's performance gets worse over time, dimmer displays and worse color accuracy with potential burn in after a few months or years just because of organic decay overtime
Plus these OLED manufacturers keep misleading there uneducated consumers with peak brightness that isn't full screen they just turn on one pixel and measure it's max brightness
