Great device, but! Newest generation Sirf star III chips are so small that thay can be inplanted into iPhone. With so big screen why not DVB-H tuner as well? Than only, the iPhone will be a most completed gadget nr.1 in the world! There are more options too, solar charge back side of the phone, wlan "n", remote with learning mode etc....Anyway,congratulation to S.J. and his team!

ok this phone is hot. i will give apple that. it looks very nice. i havent seen such a goodlooking portable device since the Dell Axim. however the features are ancient. and i have not had a pocket pc that was unable to rotate to landscape view (i have had them for years). i dont understand the user complications with them. they are very very easy to use. ohh well. the 8gb and 4gb option (and the ipod association) is what will sell this phone.
this phone is not even close to impressing me becuase i have seen these same features on phones for a while now (including the memory which has been on the Samsung i300 series for a while).
this phone will probably sell like the razr despite its shortcommings. anyone who knows abit about phones will probably not be impressed by this, but there are enough "followers" to make Apple's jump sucessful. trendy people will buy one just like they purchased razrs and ipods...
ohh yeah.. the multitouch is revolutionary, however i am not sure that it was such a great idea to put that feature on a phone becuase it may complicate use alot more than expected; we will see.
btw, i am still buying the Nokia N95 :-P

Great phone, but not the features I am really looking for.

Hopefully when the second generation comes out it will be even more full of features, also hopefully they put in 802.11n :)

This phone still does not beat the Mio A701 - no GPS. As a matter of fact, I don't know why smartphone makers integrate GPS. More and more people have gps. Before I got my A701, I own a Mio 168RS Pocket PC gps. I said then, if only they make cell phones with a built-in gps. And Mio made that happen. And I love my Mio A701. This would be the phone I would get if the A701 did not exist.

The display looks nice, and the sensor features for switching to landscape/portrait view is innovative. Other than that, everything on this phone is YEARS OLD technology. Windows mobile pocket PC phones have been MUCH more capable than this for many years already. But then again, Apple's whole goal is user friendliness rather than powerful capability...

yes, the phones supports mp3 and mpeg video. it basically has an iPod inside, same specs as a 5G iPod with video.

it has bluetooth 2.0 but not sure about A2DP. considering the prospect of wireless stereo headphones one could only assume that they'd include it. Apple makes specific mention of EDR at least.

Any idea if this phones comes with AD2P Support? This is rather important considering that there is itunes implemented in the phone.

If this phone had a 3g it would be a perfect 10 but it is still a must have as a 9 out of 10.

i work for cingular and while the features on this phone are really slightly different then the treo 680, other then the camera, i can not wait for this phone to hit the shelves. i love the new concept for their touch screen. also the new os looks really interesting. really the reason i look forward to this phone is not my love of macs but my hatred for treos. i am kinda hoping that palm sales drop because i hate seeing them get returned. so apple plz put god awful treos out of business. thanx apple.

I dont have no clue why every one is going nuts about this phone. Other then 8 Gig and safari browser every thing else is ancient. HSDPA is already history HSUPA is arround the corner in US and rest of the world is already knocking at the doors of 4G. Bottom line having this phone means having the best computer out there possible on a dial up connection, not worth $500 at all.

Nothing new to the table apart from Multi-touch. it seems easier to use however i think people will be as lost as they already are on smartphones.

The technology of 2007 is gps, safari, hsdpa and 5mp cameras'. This only has one feature that sounds interesting. (safari although the N95 has it and other models to follow will as well.)

if we look at the SE-P990i rubbish model yeah i know... what makes this a better handset? i will compare becausem this hadset is the worst in it's range but still is better easy to use and flexable program wise.

when you look at this hand set ask yourself what does it bring that's new to the world of mobile phones. what can you do with your smart phone or mobile now. for america yeah ok they haven't got grate phones but the european and japanese market??? we are so far ahead why go slightly back in time.

This phone will sell. Not because its the best out there. It's not. But because its much easier to use than anything out there. Steve Jobs was right...the current generation of smartphone, however, great technically, are hard to use.

This phone will create its own market like the ipod did by moving low and mid-range users into smartphone territory. I am betting this will be the first smartphone for a lot of people.

the internet browser is also safari on n95....and if u ppl read the link http://www.symbian-freak.com/news/007/01/iphone_vs_n95_vs_n93.htm
it proves that nokia n95 is the best phone up till now and is certainly better than iphone

I think it was a nice move for apple to come out with the apple iPhone. The iPhone has most features consumers have been waiting to have. I also think the price will not deter people from buying the Apple iPhone. I even think they will sell more then the 10 million Apple iPhones they expect to sell within the next year.
