It seems that some people don't want to face the truth: this phone is not a smartphone

Wow Mac OSX on Iphone is crappy? you must be psychic since the phone is NOT OUT YET. Screen resolution not high enough? What do you expect from a palm sized phone? Lack of 3G? Apple first phone and you guys starting to whine. Give it time bro. In three years time, Apple could actually surpassed Nokia
I would say this phone would set a new benchmark in phone industry like the mp3 players but the build quality is questionable.

I have information that leads me to know that yes while this may be an amazing phone, like all apple devices they are not designed to last, the screen scratches very easily and the viewability under direct sun light is poor also the hard drive is very faulty at this stage of the build of the iPhone as well as this, this is the first phone Apple have released please be warned i would recommend staying away from a entry market product and wait for the iPhone 2 :)

After seeing the presentation in person here in San Franciso, it is no doubt that the iphone is a monster mobile phone! it will be available sometime in June of this year and Cingular would be the only carrier to carry it. $499 for the 4GB and $599 for the 8GB...I'm just worried about the durability of this phone, MAC is known for thier Hard Drive's to crash...so we'll see how this phone when it comes out...

This is an extraordinary piece of hardware apple has produced. It is a perfect combination of design and features(even though it does lack 3G). It has the eyecandy specific in all Apple products plus the functionality of the best mobile phones on the market and beyond.
The display on the phone features multi-touch technology - no other phone on the market, excuse me, electronic mobile device on the market has that, neither will it in the next 2 years. I hear some of you telling that "the resolution isn't high enough, there are better displays out there". WHY in god's name would you need a display better than this, for heaven's sake, it's 160 ppi(pixels per inch), what possible functionality could you find for a display better then the one installed in the phone.
I'm telling you, this phone will be a market breaker, it will shake the mobile phone industry. And by god, call me a fool, but these will sell like hot cakes. Nokia'd better launch all the models they can throw at Apple, because they only have about 6 months left until this phone hits the market.
Amazing piece of hardware equipped with maybe the best Os in the world. Just amazing.
For the people who do not believe it is so, there are thousand other choices out there, nobody is asking you to buy this phone(even though it's a great piece of hardware), there are a thousand people just waiting to take your place.

today exists mobiles with better resolution of display, display is big but not so good, it lacks many features, and why no specifications about ram memory, about processor ???
i think nokia is building way much phones, just look at N95 or N93i
apple make good mp3 players not good phones, i think his phone is beatifull but not a complete comunicator, it is a midrage pocket pc with gsm and thats all, and OS is crappy, symbian is way better in all, i dont like it at all.

Nokia e-series is not iphones target. THis iphone is purley an entertainment device and will be successful because of that alone. it does not challenge the likes nokia E or blackberry or any other business oriented devices. I will probably get one but I will have an e-series on my business line. They may targer business phones later but today is not that day. Great phone with some great unique features. It's a ipod with a touchscreen phone intergrated. Simple as that.

Apple is the WORLD CHAMPION of the marketing and the branding awareness...YES it's not exactly a state-of-the-art communicating device but Steve Jobs is making everything gold when it comes to the market. I'm convinced people, especially in the States, will rush into the stores in June. Definitely, Nokia, S-E and Samsung have a REAL new challenger!!!

Only negative point is 8gb is too small :-( for a widescreen ipod replacement it should have a huge HD, that would be the dogs b's.

This phone looks pretty cool with all of the features and everything but does it have a non removable batt like the ipod? Those proprietary batts cost so much to replace!!! Still like Nokia phones though...

I'm just concern about the reliability of the face of the I-phone? As all we know, you will be using all the time your finger tip to scroll and browse in the internet. I owned an Ipod and I know for the fact that the unit can easily scratch the face plate.

how many of you guys/girls who have negative comments actually get what this phone is capable of doing....? This a MAC with Tiger OSX operating system (for those who do not know what this is, go to your local Apple dealer, and try out their computers, that is what it's all about, just the same as installing Windows XP operating system into a mobile- does that exist? anyways who cares it would probably crash every second minute), and its a phone and its an iPod and a movie player and and and. This phone is capable of everything to be exact. And it will not crash more than any other mobile thats for sure, trust me!
Ok it does not have 3G or GPS, but not to worry Steve Jobs already announced that its under development... My only worry is the BATTERY that is im sad to say not Apples strongest sales argument around!
I simply cant wait to get it..... just a damn shame I have to wait until end 2007:-(

No 3G - criminal, Apple are meant to be a forward facing company, HA HA HA HA HA HA HA. I'm a life long apple fan, but this takes the biscuit. Unless the UK government decide to give us free WIFI (VERY unlikely - in 2007 anyway) you'll be waiting ages for a download (drain on battery). Ever heard of HSDPA? Its the future (for us in the UK). Also i've owed a few ipods and every single one has needed a silicon glove to stop scratches, cant see how this amazing touch screen can resist all those keys and coins in our pockets. I'm getting an N95 (5MP camera and 30 fps video AND GPS)
