You either get the heavily overpriced high-end-phone or the just as overpriced "basic" phone, that doesn't really compete with Androids similarly priced phones, let alone Androids mid-range-phones.

Absolutely pointless release. In Europe it's mighty expensive now, for a phone that besides the processor offers less than many Mid-Range-Phones with Android.

Apple are going to implement the same strategy for their iPhones as they do with their Macbooks. If you want all the bells and whistles like ProMotion, you need to purchase a Pro model.

Apple figured things out.
They understood the people buying the vanilla versions do not understand nor care about specs so they gave them recycled version so they would feel like they bought a new phone and save a lot of money by doing so. nice move apple, nice move.
