If only they brought Xperia 1 VI as Xperia 5 VI and reduced some price off, it would have made sense to me. At least they could have provided us with option to turn off 4K to FHD for battery sacrifice. For so long I have been Sony user because of many unique features, but now the reasons have been going down (For example: No more 4K, now other company also providing shutter button in addition to capacitive touch control etc.,.)
I was very happy finally that my phone 16 Pro Max can get easily even with heavy using 8h SOT (at minimum) at 120Hz as well as 2.8k screen. I can understand Xperia 1 VI being top for its FHD screen but it also had similar to 16 Pro Max battery life (maybe 30min more SOT according to GSMARENA tests).

Short about me: ... moreI had a similar choice, coming from Xperia 5 ii, and I chose Xperia 1 VI. To answer your your review:
1. Customization: just as you know it, though Android 14 is much better imho.
2. Battery: better than the Pro Max's. For instance, last week, I charged my phone on Wendsday and on Saturday. I didn't even register the fact until today, when I checked my battery in Settings. The battery in Xperia 1 VI is insane.
3. Screen: no cutout, remember? And superb brightness, still featuring the Sony signature panel. You can't compare 1 VI with 1 II in this respect.
4. Heat: same here.
5. Design: same here, except for the dinamic island.
6. Camera: yup, you should see the Sony photos on the 1 VI. Waaaaay better than they were on the second generation. The camera is ahead of its time.
7. Shotcuts: I don't know about that.
1. Notifications: they have been better on Android for ages now.
2. Keyboard: I strongly suggest Swiftkey.
3. Auto suggestions: as long as you're not paranoid, you can let Swiftkey learn your way of replying by giving it access to your emails and messages. I did that 5-7 years ago. The result: there are cases when I reply to an entire email by suggestions alone. That's because we are limited beings and, in many instances, we want to say the exact same thing, but in a different context ;).
4. Copypaste: my point exactly.
5. Weather: yup, I hate them on Android too.
To sum it up: Xperia 1 VI is superb. If you get the chance to try it out, do it. You'll be impressed.

What fix? There is nothing to fix because it's not even out now. Basically iphone 16 pro max is 1500bucks "promise" to introduce something new in iphone lol

Also bought it on launch day , and had many issues , typing issues mostlly , but those things are now fixed , so the phone is coming to its own
Good battery , but the softwrae need to optimize more . Because there is a bit battery drain in standby mode . Other than that , and typing issues I had , great phone

Some said it is accumulated result of both software and screen protectors. Refresh rate has also been resolved but still there are some minor bugs in 18.0.1. People using 18.1 beta said 18.1 will resolve all existing problems.

2 You can do this by just clicking the symbol. No need to double click. One click works.
3 You can open camera from lockscreen using icon or by pressing camera control button. However there is no way to disable the swipe left function if I'm not wrong.
4 What kind of default settings we talking about? I don't understand. Just so that you know, you iPhone can go Focus Mode depending on location but you need to add things in focus mode what that specific profile should do. Like I go dark mode during sleep and silent mode during work. Both automated.

Experience: Android to iPhone 16 Pro Max
Short about me: This is my first iPhone and I’ve been android user my whole life. I’m 30 yrs old. Fan of Sony phones and design. My wife uses MacBook Air while I use Surface Pro and uses windows at work as well. My experience so far with iOS and iPhone itself.
Positives:
1. Customisation: Surprised (not completely since I follow tech news) to use iPhone and not missing android. Could be result of customisation apple borrowed from android. I know widgets, wallpapers etc are new.
2. Battery: My iPhone 16 pro max is tank. I barely charge it 100%. In 3 weeks, I have charged 100% only twice, in both cases, I have used extensively by using google maps, speed cam app (in Europe), Spotify for more than 4 hours continuously and then used camera randomly for 3 hours and still is not below 20%. I guess only Sony Xperia 1 VI comes closure to this battery life.
3. Screen: Satisfied (coming from 4K screen Xperia 1 II) and 120Hz is good to have
4. Never had any problems with the heat. My last chip is SD865 and it can run all apps but while heavy gaming, always produced heat. But never with A18 Pro.
5. Design and Feel: I personally didn’t feel it too big, wide yes but overall not bad. Bezels are excellent and I liked the Dynamic Island Features. External design feel awesome, reminded me of Sony in terms of premium quality.
6. Camera: Nothing to complain. Liked the colours and liked the quality. Night photography is excellent except for Moon photos where my 4 year old Sony could capture better with manual inputs. I guess I have to download paid app for manual control of camera. Videos no phone can compete.
7. Shotcuts app: Loved the automations like as soon as my car connects to my iPhone, Speed cam app starts in the background. My only complain however is while automation only iTunes Music app can be played but can't find spotiy.
Negatives: mostly on software side
1. I can’t access notifications or control panels from middle of the screen like android. It made me use two hands all the time. I wish apple borrows this feature. Also the back gestures work only in few apps.
2. Worst keyboard I have ever used. No numbers pad along with letters for such huge screen.
3. Auto suggestions horrible. No Clipboard
4. Selecting and copying is lot complicated than android. (Installed swift key)
5. Can’t find any transparent clocks with weather for free like android. Limited apps and expensive apps. Too complicated widgy apps.
So far, I didn’t miss android and I liked my 16 Pro Max
