Apple iPhone 16e pre-orders are now open

On Wednesday Apple introduced the iPhone 16e, which is its new entry level smartphone. Two days after the launch, the smartphone goes on pre-order in 59 countries and regions, including Australia, Canada, China, France, Germany, India, Japan, Malaysia, Mexico, South Korea, Türkiye, the UAE, the UK, and the US.

The iPhone 16e has a binned A18 chip, where the CPU is the same as the regular version, but the GPU has one fewer cores. It also comes with Apple's first in-house modem, the C1, and the phone supports satellite connectivity, Emergency SOS, Roadside Assistance, Messages, and Find My via Satellite.

There might be flagship-level internals, but on the outside the iPhone 16e looks like the iPhone 14 at the front with its wide notch, and the iPhone XR with its single camera at the back (it is actually closer to the previous SE, the design of which is inspired by the eight-year-old iPhone 8).
