This is the ultimate device, i absolutely love it.
For all the critics out there, and those who want MMS (obsolete technology that it is) and other features, its all coming in OS Version 3. Yup - in OS version 3, a free upgrade. Think about when last nokia gave you one of those?

Sir Josiah, 06 May 2009Please, nothing is ever certain for Apple until they say it... moreThe thing about Apple products is that they hold their value.
I'll be looking at upgrading my iPhone to OS 3.0, then as it's unlocked seeing what I can get for it on eBay.
I should be able to cover a lot of the cost of paying out my existing $69 contract, if I think it's worthwhile getting any new model that comes along.
It would cost a lot less than buying an outright N97 or even a 5800.

Bunyip, 05 May 2009I am a long time nokia fan but will be getting a new iphone... moreno need for a lesson. iphone beats the sales of every mobilephone company's iphone imitation intended to match it. the only lesson being learned is that wha iphone lacks is nothing compared to what it has, thats why people love it more than any other mobilephone.
cheers!

bunyip, 06 May 2009it is 90% certain that jobs will announce the new iphone at... morePlease, nothing is ever certain for Apple until they say it.
Apple is a marketing company. There is no denying it. Sure they make brilliant products, but more importantly they sell them. Just look at some of the past Keynotes that Steve Jobs presented at MacWorlds and see how their market share continues to grow, quarter after quarter.
Apple also look after their customers. My iPhone headphones broke once and I dropped in to the Apple store to see if I would be doing myself brain damage supergluing them together and they just replaced them at no extra cost. Sure I had stood on them or something but they didn't care.
They listened to the complaints regarding the iPhone and you just need to look at the updates coming in 3.0 to see that all that remains to make it better is now hardware issues.
On that point, hardcore Apple aficionados who got their iPhones on release are still only 10 months into contract. I can only speak for Australia here but I know at Optus we don't sell the iPhone outright and 95% of customers take a 24 month contract. I know personally, as I got my iPhone on release, that the price of paying out my current contract to upgrade to a 3rd Gen iPhone, if released in June, is just too much, and I'd rather take 3.0 and wait patiently til my contract runs out to get the alleged better camera and larger memory.
As I said, I'm speaking for myself, but I'm sure there are others who are in the same boat as me. About 100 pages back this discussion was circulating (before 3.0 was announced) and it was decided that a Q4 announcement seemed more logical, purely because it is nearer to 18 months of contract, where it is much cheaper if not free to upgrade.
This is just my conclusion from working in a phone shop and as I said, nothing is certain from Apple until they say it. Come June we will find out.
All I'm really trying to say is Macrumors.com is the place for speculation, not the 'User Opinions and Reviews' forum of GSMArena.
*Sigh* I wish Nokia would hurry up release the N97 so we can have some fresh debates. The whole megapixel argument is getting old, lol.

it is 90% certain that jobs will announce the new iphone at the WWDC09 event on june 8. Other things we will get are 3.2mp camera, radio, bluetooth, better battery performance, min 32gb . Things we might get are fm transmitter (the chip has the capability but will it be saved as a selling point 4 iphone 4?) maybe OLED screen. Wont get SD card.

bunyip, 05 May 2009i come from a n82 5mp with xenon and the iphone is poor bot... moreI find the quality of the photo's equal to or better than my N82, however I don't print them just upload them to websites or email them, the shots are in focus, there is no sign of graininess or camera noise except in very low light situations and the colour is good.
When people see the pictures I've taken they don't beleive they are from an iPhone because all they go is kneejerk reports like yours.

Anonymous, 05 May 2009The camera isn't poor, it works well and produces good pict... morei come from a n82 5mp with xenon and the iphone is poor both day and moreso at night. From personal experience using an iphone. I am not saying the iphone is bad.. Far from it. Its just with the features i mentioned which are every day on all other phones it would have been perfect.

I am a long time nokia fan but will be getting a new iphone (announced june 8) if they fix the usual issues (poor camera, no video, bluetooth, radio, hopefully fm transmitter, turn gps navigation, copy past, camera flash, thethering, push notifications etc etc all the tings we take for granted).
The screen and programs are awesome (music player, calc, facebook etc etc) plus the app store is the best.
If steve Jobs didn't cripple the first 2 iphones so much he would have had a lot more nokia/se/samsung fans like me first time round. Hopefully the lesson is learned for the iphone 3. Cheers
