AlphaVirus, 28 Apr 2009I hate seeing people spread FUD and for some reason iphone ... moreActually you are VERY wrong matey.. Iphone actually has multitasking, video recording, mms and everything you said it was missing.. They do not come offically with the phone but it can do it, you just have to download software for it.. And the next update, btw, will include it in offical software too.. To be honest, i don't really believe about your vice president being jealous to your nokia 5800..

james , 28 Apr 2009i was told there is a new version of the i phone comming ou... moreThere is a new version of the iPhone operating system coming, which when you install it will allow the use of more bluetooth functions.
The actual release date will be announced in early June at the Apple WDC.
It will be free to iPhone users, iPod Touch users will have to pay $10.
To get it all you need to do is plug the phone into iTunes and press update.
It probably won't be a good idea for people with iPhones jailbroken to SIM unlock them because after the update they will be SIM locked again, it won't affect officially unlocked iPhones or people who want to use the original phone company.

AlphaVirus, 28 Apr 2009I hate seeing people spread FUD and for some reason iphone ... moreWhile the 5800 is symbian OS, which means lots of customization and whatnot, and of course the video call and multitasking and slightly better camera is nice, but there is a reason for the Iphone's success that goes WAY beyond specs.
You say Isheep, but I was no mac or iphone fan before the iphone, and even after the iphone I was not a fan of macs (though recent experiences with pc's have made me despise them). I had a Nokia symbian phone, and while it was nice for a time, it eventually became a nightmare. Multitasking was all but impossible as any applications other than the one you were currently using would close, or the phone would simply say you had no more RAM. Even with nothing else open, zooming into a photo was impossible and took literally 15 seconds or more.
A2DP is not a necessity, and often times not even desirable. It drains battery life, and can be less convenient than simply plugging in headphones. Plus 3.0 OS fixes all this.
Sending and receiving files will also be fixed. Multitasking has proven to be inefficient at best, as it reduced battery life by 80%. Push Notification is far more efficient and smart for dealing with things like IM and whatnot. With the speed at which the iphone can run applications, you might think it WAS multitasking.
And the App store is NOT just a fad. It has revolutionized the cell phone industry, notice how just about all other phone developers and the OS's like blackberry and android, have copied Apple's App store. The greatest form of flattery is imitation. And I, and just about all people with Iphones, use our apps and the app store daily, so no, it will not die out like a fad, it will only continue to grow.
Nokia's music service thing is indeed not free, you just aren't paying for it up front.
Most if not all of your points against the Iphone have already been addressed and will be fixed in a little over a month with Iphone 3.0.
I don't see why people get so worked up about the iphone when they think its a stupid phone. Maybe because its popular? I've used plenty of phones myself, touchscreen and no touchscreen, and everytime I do, I feel like I'm in the middle of a desert with how primitive it feels and I am excited to be back to the near-perfect interface of the Iphone. Yes, it has no A2DP or flash, but I wouldn't give up the Iphone for a 12 MP camera with xenon and A2DP and 40 gigs of memory with multitasking.
Again, its not all about specs anymore. Iphone has changed that much about how we see phones, and I think the 5800 is a step in the right direction with regard to phones, but it's going to be tough to make something comparable to the iphone. Android has the right idea I think.

Anonymous, 01 Jan 1970Yes, that was a very good and matter of fact summary of the whole thing. Perhaps the iPhone will really revolutionize d mobile industry... Or our way of life ;))

AlphaVirus, 28 Apr 2009I hate seeing people spread FUD and for some reason iphone ... moreFUD?
Let's look at yours, the comes with music service adds $500 to the cost of the 5800 in Australia, $10 a week is not free music.
If you bothered to read the specs sheets you'd notice that the iPhone and 5800 both have 3.6Mbs 3.5G HSDPA except that the iPhone with three bands supports America and Europe but the 5800 with two bands needs two different phones.
The iPhone does multitask with it's native applications.
A2DP Bluetooth? Why do you need stereo support for Bluetooth headsets in a business phone.
Most of the stuff you whine about will be updated in OS 3.0 anyway.
The reason the boss looks at your 5800 as you go into his office to empty his bin, is to figure out ways to sack you because of the horrible noise emanating from your tiny phone speakers, worse than a cheap radio.

I hate seeing people spread FUD and for some reason iphone users spread a rediculous amount of it. I highly doubt any of the iphone users have ever used a REAL smart phone, so comparing a iphone (which is a smart-dumb phone) to a good smart phone is crazy. The only thing going for the iphone is the "app store" and that is a short lived fad for most.
With my Nokia 5800, a real smart phone, I can do everything I want without being locked by whatever Apple wants. The phone only costs $400 unlocked in US, cheaper in other locations, also includes Comes With Music for most countries where all the music is FREE, no strings attached. Stereo speakers for the music lovers, customizable ringtones, videotones, universal accelerometer, MULTITASKING!!!!! which a smart phone does, once again I say MULTITASKING!!!! video calling, lol being able to record videos, USB support, Bluetooth with A2DP (for the sheep who can't connect to everything, this is what you are missing), picture messaging (MMS), 3.5G connection, faster internet browser (youtube if you don't believe me), I can go on and on but I think you get the picture, if you don't you are just used to being fed the koolaid.
I will check back to reply to any sheep who want to compare and contrast, by the way I handle 10+ iphones in a business environment so I know the pros and cons. Dont try and play me because I know what the iphone is capable of, and its not much. My Vice President is jealous of my Nokia 5800 and he has an iphone, but his was company issued so he doesnt complain about it. I set the phones up, fix problems, and answer questions, I hate the iphone, it is limited, most users spread lies about it and try to hide its flaws. Apple knew they could corner the sheep, and so far they have done a good job, but I will continue to try and let people know the truth.

Anonymous, 01 Jan 1970That writer seems to have nailed it and he's right, since getting an iPhone I hardly ever use my PC any more.
The numbers show that people just aren't so interested in just anoher phone like thei last few they'd owned which had all these features before the iPhone launched, yet people still persist in whining about the iPhone not having certain things.
Guess what whiners, a lot of people couldn't care less.
