I'm not gonna give my cell provider 1080.00 dollars for a data plan over 3 years just so i can get an iphone for 200.00 bucks. That money is on top of a voice plan here in Canada. If i really wanted one i could buy an unlocked one for 600. Just not interested.

There is no one device to suit everyone. Non-Apple users don't post out of jealousy any more than iphone fans post out of jealousy when they rubbish a Nokia or a Samsung.
In fact, iphone threads attract so much hate because they are usually full of ignorant posts like yours. People feel more compelled to post hate against ignorant users than against a product they could simply choose not to buy.

if i get the iphone 3g unlocked from optus pre paid, for $120, will it be officially unlocked?.
so when i update it with 3.0 firmware will it be locked again?

I tried them on today, comfortable as anything. Accept calls, voice dial out, control your music player, all from the glasses.

ye man that guy was right everyone who does not have an iphone for any reason that takes the piss out of it is jealous. i got one in february and im so happy i got an n96 and sold it for iphone and i havnt regretted it one bit

All the iphone hating only means that there are people who envy the iphone. It's as simple as that. They'd say whatever nonsense just to express their jealousy. The iphone is an amazing device, and since they cannot afford it, or they have so much loyalty to their non-Apple device, they become bitter and hateful of the iphone because they are fighting their desire to have it and do not want to be a traitor to Nokia or Samsung or SE. There really is no reason for them to waste their time posting negative remarks against the iphone if they truly believe that it's an inferior device. Having haters here, is a good sign that the iphone is a very competitive device.

i feel people who "hate iphone" must visit app store taking there time before writing any kind of comments.
cause there is app for anything and everything
also there is no hardware in maket as capable as iphone

I've used/handled both an iPhone 3G and Japanese off the market type of phones & surely iphone 3G is not the best. Indeed it's great but there are better phones out there.

Now that article on slashdot referred to an article on Wired, where the journalist who wrote it quoted sources who denied ever saying such things.
The journalist, Patrick Chen published (and edited) numerous retractions on twitter.
The entire article was flawed and discredited by Appleinsider who exposed the edits in the original articles and by posts made by the Japanese journalists who were blatantly misquoted by Chen.
The iPhone is free on contracts in other countries besides Japan, Australia for instance so Softbanks decision was irrelevant.
iPhone's continue to sell in Japan and they are not CDMA.
