I'm using this s**t for a week already.
I'm so dissapointed in it. So many minuses.
SMS servise is so uncomfortable.
To load anything You need to use this fracking iTunes.
Bluetooth suckes.
But as for me BIGGEST minus - NO MMS!!!
Apple made it to damn closed. What are they afraid so much??
I'm thinking of raplacing it with Nokia E71 of SE C905.

    Where are you from?
It is possible to buy it without a contract, of course.
Just get it with a pay-and-go. Of course you have to pay more in advance, but it is worth it.

Beware, though, that only in Italy it comes unlocked to all networks.

Hang on, can you run Google Earth and do Google voice searches on them?

I use them a lot and only want a phone that does both those things.

There is something wrong with my iPhone.

When I go to Facebook or some other sites in Safari, my username is already written in the form field, so I only have to enter my password (unless I ticked the remember me box).

I read somewhere that the iPhone can't do this.

Do you think it is faulty?

Anonymous, 29 Nov 2008I've had my iPhone since it came out and it has just been a... moreSome of your points.

It seems like you are having network issues, did you update your SIM card when you got the iPhone, check with your provider?

When you tap on a call (a black one, red one's are missed calls) written across the top of the screen (next to where the blue back to Recent Calls is located) "Outgoing Call" or "Incoming Call" it's just above the Date and Time of the call and the contact details (if they are in the phonebook).

As far as your router goes there must be something wrong with your set-up, I have 3 PC's and an X-Box 360 connected by cable and connect a laptop, an iPhone, an N82 a PSP and a media centre PC via wireless.

They can all connect at the same time, they do not "steal" each other's IP addresses, there is one Internet IP address, local IP addresses are assigned by the router, that's what they do, maybe you should use Google to learn how to set up a network properly.

As far as Hotmail goes, why can't I access it using Thunderbird or Eudora (or other email clients)?

I HAVE to use Outlook or Outlook express or access it using a web browser.

Microsoft deliberately set it up that way so YOU HAVE TO USE their products e.g. Windows Mobile 6 devices (if you have Windows Mobile 5 bad luck you'll have to upgrade THE DEVICE in order to have hotmail "push" or install 3rd party Apps).

Gmail and Yahoo offer far better alternatives to Hotmail, you don't have to pay for POP or IMAP for example.

pple provided a healthy dose of relief to a technology industry battered by Wall Street's woes, reporting one of the best quarters in its history.

Apple reported a net profit of $1.14 billion on revenue of $7.9 billion, a 26 percent increase in profits, and a 27 percent boost in revenue compared to a year ago.

Apple chief executive Steve Jobs called the fiscal fourth quarter of 2008 one of the best in Apple's history, taking a shot at the BlackBerry in the process.

"Apple just reported one of the best quarters in its history, with a spectacular performance by the iPhone—we sold more phones than RIM," Jobs said in a statement. "We don't yet know how this economic downturn will affect Apple. But we're armed with the strongest product line in our history, the most talented employees and the best customers in our industry. And $25 billion of cash safely in the bank with zero debt."

Apple executives summed up the success: Apple shipped more Macs than in any quarter in its history, more iPods than any non-holiday quarter ever, and more iPhones in the quarter than its entire history combined.

Apple shipped 2.61 million Macs during the quarter, increasing unit sales by 21 percent and revenue by 17 percent compared to a year ago. Apple increased iPod sales by 8 percent to 11.1 million units, increasing revenue by 3 percent. And iPhone sales soared a massive 6.16 times compared to a year ago, to 6.89 million units.

According to its own estimates (and supported by NPD data) Apple sold about 800,000 or so more phones than the 6.1 million Research in Motion sold during the quarter, meaning that the iPhone outsold the BlackBerry. In terms of revenue, Apple is the third largest mobile-phone supplier, just 15 months after it entered the market.

Apple also characterized its results in a non-GAAP (Generally Accepted Accounting Principles) manner. According to GAAP rules, Apple considers its iPhones and Apple TVs under a subscription model, assigning a two-year lifespan to each device. If sales of both products were treated as immediate revenue, Apple would have reported $2.44 billion in profits and $11.7 billion in revenue, 115 percent and 48 percent higher, respectively, than the company did.

"If this isn't stunning I don't know what is, all due to the incredible success of the iPhone 3G," said Jobs, who made a surprise appearance during the conference call. Jobs usually hands off the conference-call duties to chief financial officer Peter Oppenheimer and others.

On Tuesday, Apple will report that the 200 millionth application will be downloaded from its iPhone Apps Store, 102 days after it began, Jobs added.

Even Apple's fourth-quarter results were optimistic, with revenue guidance of between of $9.0 billion to $10.0 billion, all significantly higher than Apple's third-quarter results.

According to Jobs, Apple has "the best customers in the world," in addition to superb employees. "If the economic downturn does affect them, they are more likely to delay [purchases] than switch" to another vendor, Jobs said, praising the typical Apple customer's loyalty.

Good fortune hangs up on Nokia — In its latest earnings release, Nokia said that sales were down by five percent and profit by 30 percent. Although management says that gross margins improved and that its outlook remained the same, there was a bigger problem: market share drop. The company’s share dropped to 38 percent from 40 percent in the second quarter and 39 percent the year before. Nokia’s reason may have been to trade off some volume for some additional gross margin, which lifted to 36.1 percent to 36.5 percent. When costs and revenues are watched to fractions of a penny per unit, that’s something to phone home about. [Source: MarketWatch]

I've had my iPhone since it came out and it has just been a catalogue of problems, I'll list the ones I can remember below. Constant call dropping, GPS barely works, maps works 50% of the time and usually uses 3G to work out where it is, try using it in a car, a reasonable idea, practically impossible. Applications, constantly quitting. Many web pages won't load, videos or music, mail won't allow hotmail except through a third part work around. The camera is unusable, shaky gloomy conditions aren't allowed, no night shots. Texts can't be forwarded, no passing on of jokes you want to share, surprising in the social networking era. No picture messages either, another bit of fun taken away. Sending texts can't be cancelled. Music applications (not ipod) quit when you get a text, transferring contacts is impossible. It doesn't remember field data information, most annoying when surfing online, it also has a very, very curious ability to go from full 3G reception to 2G (not even EDGE) immediately as you press Safari, uncanny. I'd say about 50% of the time it decides not to vibrate when a call or text arrives. Very short battery life, that drains when any apps are used. You can't set a task reminder without going into the calendar, a laborious process. Maps misses really vital information like Motorway services. When I'm at home I have to switch the WiFi off if I use my laptop because it steals the IP address and kicks me off, despite it being set up to do that dynamically. Itunes won't synch properly between it and my laptop, it has already deleted bought tracks. No 3G, no voicemail. No indication of whether the last call to a certain person was incoming or outgoing, no date and time on individual texts and calls. And, after all that, it doesn't even look that good, all the product real estate that could have been exploited has not been, it lacks character, a pebble. Such a shame, it could have been so good.
