I, 13 Nov 2008I have to say that your photographic standards must be pret... morelow standards for pics you say...don't assume things. you are degrading high end camera phones, as if they are similar to low end camera phones. you are so wrong.
you heard bout or have seen the n93 or n93i, right? both phones designs are camcorder like. optical zoom with, ofcourse, carl zeiss optics are included in the camera along with other camera functions. awesome devices for taking pics. how do i know this? i also own an n93i.

i prefer an all-around cell phone that has the functionality of an internet, great camera, and a phone for the convenience of carrying one device.

that's cool if your co workers chose free iphones. again, it is a matter of preference.

Windows mobile and symbian phones are also fast. I own the iphone, moto q9h, n95, and n93i.

there are two more phones with optical zoom : the n93 and n93i. Both cell phones are built like a little cam-corder.

yeah, optical zoom is better than digital zoom. however, with digital zoom you can always edit the photos.

that's cool that you prefer the iphone. i prefer both my n95 and n93i over my iphone. as i had stated, it is matter of preference.

!, 13 Nov 2008"Look if ou want a fantastic multimedia device get an iPhon... moreI have to say that your photographic standards must be pretty low to assume that your n95 is going to give you "superb" results even as a backup camera, the sensor is just too small. Additionally your zeiss optics albeit created by a great lens manufacturer just are not going to provide you with the ability to make your sensor any better. I highly doubt that anyone wanting to take any serious pictures is going to count on a camera phone for anything. If all you do is take pictures to post to your facebook account that is one thing but I seriously doubt you got any quality shots of a wedding using your n95.

With regards to what phones ATT is releasing my company just switched to them as their provider and every single person who was offered a phone opted to get the iphone. Back in college I used to work at an ATT store and was amazed at the amount of terrible phones they asked us to sell. I went for 4 years without renewing a contract with them because they couldn't supply a decent phone. I would much rather pay full price for a quality phone.

Windows mobile devices aren't nearly as easy to use as the iphone.

Picture this "My battery is running low, can I borrow your Nokia charger?"

"@#%$ where do I plug it in???"

Why does it have micro-USB, not just that, micro-usb incompatible with other micro-usb phones (e.g. Motorola V9).

                        1GB non-expandable memory.

Where do I put my other 1600 songs?

3G yet no video call (hang on that sounds familiar).

                        A tiny little screen.

S40 so the OS has nowhere near the power of S60, WinMO or OSX phones.

!, 13 Nov 2008"Look if ou want a fantastic multimedia device get an iPhon... moreThe only camera phone's that have any merit are the one's with Optical zoom, which are rare (Sharp 903, Samsung G800 are the only one's I can think of).

Digital zoom and correction (which is why these phones are so slow in taking pictures) is a poor substitute.

My kid's are using 2 of my old phone's, SonyEricsson K800 (3.2MP xenon flash) and N82 (5MP xenon flash).

I prefer to use my iPhone, I find one handed use is easy especially when it is in it's dock in my car, I can just flick through the various icons and touch them, which is a lot easier than digging through the convoluted menu's of the N82 and a lot easier to see at a quick glance.

The sound volume on calls isn't an issue at all.

ATT just released htc touch pro for the same price of the iphone ($300). also, att will release experia 1 and omnia pretty soon.

                            to iphone owner,

one more thing. a camera phone that is superb such as the n95, innov8,....etc...etc works great for taking pics. again, it is matter of a preference to use a camera or a camera phone for pics.

My iPHONE 3G purchase was an attempt to combine the functionality of the Palm TX with a Nokia 6500 classic. The iPHONE 3G was an upgrade to the Palm TX. The iPHONE 3G fell short of replacing the 6500 classic in terms of voice clarity, one handed operations, & individual user customization.

I find iPHONE 3G volume to less than adequate. laboratory tests performed by this web site supports this observation.
                              Apple iPhone 3G 66.1 62.1 71.7 Below average
                              Nokia 6500 classic 74.7 75.7 83.8 Excellent
                              9-12 dB's is a 8-16 times less sound energy.

One handed operation. touch screen makes operation with one hand difficult. The D pad and buttons did allow the palm TX do have reasonable function with one hand. Normal operations with the nokia never requires more than 1 hand. The iPHONE 3G one handed operations requires operating the touch screen with with the side of the thumb, this mode of operating has limited value. Many smaller buttons are hard to reliably activate via ones thumb. Holding device securely in one hand and reaching the controls is mutually exclusive.

Customization; both the palm and the nokia have multiple buttons than can be configured to activate the software that the user wants to have easy access too. iPHONE 3G has has no flexibility in buttons functions. The icons re-arranged but that's it.

iphone owner, 13 Nov 2008I've been reading all the posts about the iPhone and am sur... moreofcourse, if you are professional photgrapher you wouldnt use a camera phone as a main camera to take pics. camera phones are back ups. Then again, it is matter of preference.

some people just want an all-around device, in which the iphone is certainly not. again, as you stated the iphone is more of a multi-media device (not an all-around phone).

I use my n95 to take pictures at parties of any type. I even used it at my cousin's wedding. The pictures turned out sharp, clear and crisp.

I've been reading all the posts about the iPhone and am surprised by the lack of hands on experience from the people posting negative comments about the iPone. The phone and its functionality as a phone internet browser and email device are just plain fantastic. The screen is great and the keypad works just fine, sure you hit a lot of wrong keys while you are getting used to it but the system corrects itself while you type so it doesn't really matter. It is still faster at sending a message than t9. The ipod functionality is superb but that is easy to guess about.

As far as the camera goes, why would anyone want to use a cell phone camera as your main camera. First of all the sensor on any camera is way to small to produce worthwhile prints consistently. It doesn't matter how many megapixels it has. Additionally just adding more megapixels to a sensor that small will just increase the noise until all of your photos are unusable. I am a professional photographer and would never even consider using any phone as a camera for anything I wanted to print even a 4x6. If you want a good camera go out and buy a dslr and some good lenses, or even a compact point and shoot.

I was a nokia user before I switched to the iphone and even with carl zeiss optics and 5mp the pictures i got were much worse than even the ones I took with an old 3mp nikon point and shoot. Not to mention you have pretty much 0 control over things like depth of field or any other manual camera control.

Look if ou want a fantastic multimedia device get an iPhone 3g. $300 gets you a phone, pda, internet tablet, photo viewer, gps and maps, mp3/mp4 player with a bigger screen in a more compact body than anything else available. Oh and not to mention easy to locate and install 3rd party apps to do just about anything you want and Apple is working on making it better every day.

The iphone is popular because of the brand name and influences from peers to buy one.

The people that are negative about the iphone may have owned one. Yet, it didn't suit their needs.

For some people the iphone is superior, but for some it isn't. Superiority of a phone can be perceived in many ways by people. It is also a matter of preference.

Nokia users say n-series are superior. Samsung users say samsung touchscreens are the best. htc users say htc touchscreens rule. Iphone users say nothing can compete with the iphone...etc..etc. It is a matter of preference as i have stated.

I pretty much have used different phones from different companies. I own an iphone, n95, motoq 9h, n93i...my next one might be htc touch pro or the xperia1. I just shuffle the usage of my phone.

Iphone is just a fashion statement. HTC rapes this phone as well as all the other new phones.
