Expensive toy, and nothing else but best selling :
The NPD Group issued a press release today revealing that the Apple iPhone is now ranked #1 in consumer phone sales for the 3rd quarter of 2008. The iPhone surpassed Motorola's RAZR phone which had been ranked #1 for the previous 12 quarters.
"The displacement of the RAZR by the iPhone 3G represents a watershed shift in handset design from fashion to fashionable functionality," said Ross Rubin, director of industry analysis for NPD. "Four of the five best-selling handsets in the third quarter were optimized for messaging and other advanced Internet features."

NPD bases their data on online surveys each month that are projected to represent the entire population of U.S. consumers age 18 and over.

The iPhone and RAZR were followed by the RIM Blackberry Curve, LG Rumor and LG enV2 in the top 5 ranking.

It's easy, when you're on a call, press hold, call another number (or answer an incoming call) then press merge (maximum is 5 at once).

I haven't heard anything about only being able to change your number four times, I'm wonder if it's some confusion regarding the above.

                                    2. Study Reveals iPhone as Most Reliable Smartphone

Monday November 10, 2008 1:53 PM CST - By: Michael Kwan

Most owners of BlackBerry devices love their smartphones and a big part of this has to do with BlackBerry reliability. As it turns out, however, the BlackBerry is not the most reliable smartphone on the market. It's the iPhone.

SquareTrade is a company that sells extra warranties for cell phones and other devices, so you could say that it knows a thing or two about the relative reliability of different electronic devices. Naturally, this study was based only on reported data and there could be some users out there who just "put up" with problems rather than having their phones fixed through the warranty process. Even so, we have to go with what we have and what we have is saying that the iPhone is twice as reliable as the BlackBerry.

I don't think people care about BT file transfer or MMS.

Especially when it can do things like this:-

Now available for download on the iTunes App Store, the Conference Call App enables users to set up conference calls from their iPhones or iPod(R) touch devices spontaneously, or to schedule calls in advance quickly and easily while on the go. To start an instant conference call, users create a group of recipients from the contacts in their iPhone address books and tap "schedule conference"
