HTC Touch Diamond is cheaper in unlocked mode, unlocked iPhone cost you a bomb. Don'T compare with samsungs... Samsungs are the most expensive, and imho the less designful phones, trying to force all in one phones (they really know simply too much to comply) Me persoally just promised myself not buying a non-unlocked phone again. Simply can'T understand people who wants to buy the samsung dual sim phone non-unlocked. The WNDs are much better and nicer phones, you can't hear a wrong word for them, all who owns loves it, but who belives, if their not making a well-known smartphone? And they should spend more to marketing, coz their phone won't be the part of t-mobile or vodafone advertisements, and normal people search only for unlocked dual sim phones.

I have my iphone 3g since July 11th, I was very pleased to have it on the release date without falling in line, just because lucky enough to visit one big mobile shop in my area here in kawasaki city and having one... i really appreciate this unit very much but one thing I notice the quality of case material is not as good as the previous iphone.. I happen to have it also.. the new iphone 3G case seems very fragile.. the sim card tray has already some chirping on the sides, since I tried to remove my sim card from time to time to test with hypersim card (carefully done).. but in general this iphone 3G is really good for me except the housing, better Apple retained the original housing..

Whats the deal saying iphone 3G is expensive?
Give me a break, is sold out everywhere, people are willing to pay for it despite yes comments about lack of certain features.
When you guys say lack of features, go get the Samsung. Then you guys say that is more expensive.
I mean seriously?
HTC Diamond touch is no less cheaper, it has 4GB no TV-OUT, lousy battery as well
IMO, I love the samsung but it was a bit out of my budeget range.
Iphone 3G costly? No. there is the 8GB version and comparing to HTC Diamond touch I dont think so.
If your network provider is abusing it thats a different story.

im not sure if a lot of people know that this new 3g iphone back cover is made out of cheap material, because there are a lot of complains from many iphone 3g owners (especially the white one) there are many hair-line cracks forming all over the back and many users claim that they have never dropped their phone or put any pressure on it
heres some proof...

its $199 with contract (and you have to get certain add-ons with the contract so in the end you still end up paying $430 for the phone), but if you buy the phone on a normal contract its $399 and if you just want the phone without contract its $599.
the $199 is just to attract people to buy it without knowing that there a catch behind it

This Michael Aleander guy must be one of the Apple's great and clever marketingers. No real Apple fans like the one he played would ever talk over my head like this. "Two long comments, I won't read the one under" - thinks the reader coz nothing shows it's a reply to that. Great job Apple, you could invest more than enough money to keep the good fame of your underquality products.

In a few words, if you already have an iPhone 1G it's difficult to decide whether to buy the new iPhone 3G or not. If you have a lot of money to throw, or you are a mobile internet addicted or you like to travel a lot in foreign places, here we go. But if it's not your case, better keep your first generation iPhone because the free firmware update gives you all the other features of the new iPhone.
If you don't have any iPhone and you are a real fan of mobile devices, this one it's a must-have-stuff. I've had plenty of phones, mostly smartphones, but this is completely different, it's standing alone above all the rest. It's not only about user interface and touchscreen; the best thing about iPhone is the possibility to fix almost all of the so-much-debated missing features by firmware updates. And it's the simple design, the solid sensation that it gives you when you keep it in your hand.
Future firmware updates can solve all the following problems: the Java and Flash support; the copy-paste thing; the MMS thing; the bluetooth file sharing and A2DP thing; the voice command thing; the FM radio support; and more. Only the camera cannot be upgraded that way (and the missing of the memory card slot), but who cares about that? A Nokia Nseries-like camera would make this device look weird, and would increase it's thickness and weight. And what for? Standalone cameras will always be better than phone cameras.
It has A-GPS, HSDPA, Wi-Fi, TV-Out, accelerometer and countless applications that can increase the number of things it can do. For 3 to 5 US dollars you can borrow the latest movies, DvD-like quality or even High Definition, and watch them on your device or connect it to your LCD tv or plasma TV. For 10 US Dollars you can buy a movie.
Conclusion: iPhone 3G is among the best smarty and it can still be easily improved by firmware and software. It may cannot do what most cheap phones can do, but it also can do what no other phone can do. I strongly recommend it for mobile freaks! :)

and BTW, iPhone is worst phone ever. Apple knows what marketing is, but that's all. iTunes loves to freeze, quicktime loves to freeze, and you need both on your computer coz you don'T even have a mass storage in your iPhone. Windows mobile 6.0 added near the STABLE activesync the mem card mass storage mode (e.g. HP IPAQ Voice messenger),but iPhone 3g mass storage? nope, INSTABLE iTunes and quicktime instead. Because of a bug, I had to uninstall my quick time recently, coz I couldn't get a SINGLE MP3 from a link in mozilla, and couldn't tell quicktime, that he's not an online player. (But I'm not a fish at computers) And do you remember your first (and last) iPod? You had a single mp3 player before with mass storage, and only 512MB, but you could change data any time any place with totalcommander, and could use it in a mass storage car audio player. But when you got happy coz of the iPod you realised, that it's a write only device! Once you fill with 4gb can't delete, coz there will be an "other" category instead. Apple proudly told us that now we can use formatting to solve this. Mmm, great. And there were lots of preloaded EQ settings in your iPod none is for Headphones (bass and treble + and middle - would required at least one) And have you ever seen a NORMAL smartphone with unremovable battery? How can people belive that a third party application won't make me to use the screwdriver? Even a PC which is improving from decades can't be safe without unpowering facilities. But a 1 year old smartphone? And you know Apple mobile is a 1 year old thing, but windows mobie is since 2002 (moto mpx200 was still stable) And windows is not like the computer windows, they're now not in the monopoly case, they must improve against symbian, linux, and MacMobile, (and maybe AndroidOS which one I can'T understand also [Then who can???]) that's why windows mobile is more trustable then any earlier and later Microsoft PC products.
Back to the iPhone, I still didn't mention its strangely working bluetooth, and which shows Apple's good marketing is telling 3g as a big upgrade. The new iPhone only knows more with 3g than the previous, which are in the half of the phones in the last 4-5 years. They made bigger words for it then words for the first color displayed phones.
And for final words, don't even forget Apple has been making phones not for long ago. As all could tell Moto's head off using the same menu in all non-smartphones for 5 years, note that it became a stable menu for nowadays with no bugs and misses. As LG and Nokia and Samsung and SE tries to renew their menues always comes out with missings, and new came bugs. Iphone is a much harder case, coz smartphone can do much more stupid things and a nowaday's phone needs too much function for a new system. That's why some brands couldn't come up, and that's why HTC could come up with being the first only Windows Mobile smartphone manufacturer, as they saw, that people won't belive, that they did the best working phone in that short period of time, and as you can see, Eten, Gigabyte, Toshiba Asus and HP followed their right way.

Joe, 11 Aug 2008I had an HTC Touch from Alltel for 5 months before trying t... moreDear Joe...
To be honest... I had an 1G iphone before switching to an HTC Touch... (which by the way has work effortlessly and without any flaws for 5 months now...) Anyway... The iphone's UI is quite impressive... but I had to drop it because of a long list of cons... (no document editor, no video recording, no bluetooth connectivity with other devices and so on...) So I guess it is just a matter of preferences and priorities...(and in your case, luck with devices). However, if you want a entertainment device... then the iphone is for you... but if you want a more rounded group of specs choose any other touch based, WM phone... By the way... you should take a look at the HTC Diamond, the Omnia and Xperia if you are looking for more than eye-candy...

I had an HTC Touch from Alltel for 5 months before trying the Iphone 3G. Alltel had to replace the touch 2 months after I had it. The screen locked up on it. Both touches had glitches in cell phone receptions and constantly locking up. I had to reboot it multiple times a day. Both units. This tells me that this is a constant problem on Windows Mobile phones.
Here are my Iphone 3G likes and dislikes after 2 weeks of use.
Dislikes: Safari has no ability to see websites with frames that have a scroll bar on the the sides.
Will not send a picture in text messaging
Does not see WMV on websites that have a video playing
Will not let you hear a mp3 from clicking on a link.
No copy and paste ability.
The speaker is very weak, during speakerphone conversations, notifications of any kind including an incoming call. This may very well be the deal breaker that I may return it.
Not able to record video ...WT! I thought this was a basic as a camera on the cell phone.
There may be others but these are the ones I have found in 2 weeks of using the phone.
Likes: The phone is flawless in it's operation. Doesn't lock up but sometimes has a problem connecting to the internet to get mail. The little circle thingy just keeps chasing it's tail at times. When it does this I just reboot and it seems to do ok. Boot up time is much less than WMobile.
Quick GPS location. Sats beam in about 10 to 20 seconds. With my touch it was sometimes 5 minutes if any at all.
Audio quality for a phone is the best I've heard either by phone talking or music. I listen to Sirius and it's really clean. Played it through my Bose L1 system. I was pretty impressed.
