I think a lot of people are missing the point of the iPhone 3G. I don't think Apple ever designed it to be the absolute ultimate do-everything phone... it's more of an iPod Touch with phone capabilities built in. If you want the best MUSIC PHONE on the market with web browsing abilities, buy the iPhone 3G (or iPhone 2G for that matter - the 3G will surf faster though). If you want a Smartphone that can do absolutely everything, buy a Blackberry. If you want a satnav phone, buy the new Garmin. If you want the best camera phone, buy the 8mp Sony Ericsson.

There's no such thing as a phone that can do everything - if there was, it would be an 8mp camera touchscreen phone with 16 gigabytes of internal memory, SD slot, AGPS and free TomTom, slide-out QWERTY keyboard, Windows OS, etc etc etc... and even then, people would complain that it's too expensive and the battery doesn't last a year on a full charge!

It's human nature to want what you can't have, and to look for the negatives in every new product.

Just think of the new iPhone as a mobile phone that plays lots of music and surfs the web, and you'll be happy with it.

Want more? Then the iPhone is not what you're looking for.

Wow this phone is incredible. I can't wait to get one. In case that takes a while I'll get a Samsung Omnia for practice.

haseious, 26 Jun 2008oh yea? why don't you try writing a foreign language with y... moreThen really, what was your point? Do you think your point is so well received that the R&D people at Apple will say, "Hey, why didn't we think of that?" Have you tried calling Apple and telling Steve Jobs your opinion? Have you written them an e-mail telling Apple what you think they should do? Maybe they'll hire you immediately for your brilliant revelation.

Or, maybe you'd watch the video on apple.com and understand one of the selling points Steve makes—and everybody else laughs—is when he compares it to other phones with a stylus.

You do realize the Apple logo does/did say "Think Different."

Anonymous, 26 Jun 2008any phones if you buy as new customer will do 2 years contarct...Do you do "any" research?

T-Mobile sells all of their phones without a contract if you so choose. Go to their site and investigate. Or, is this too much work?

The iPhone does work correctly on T-Mobile.

so the only difference between this and the 1st iPhone is the 3G and GPS? it's not even "real" GPS. it's A-GPS. of course, those 2 features has been available on other cell phones for the last 3 years and iPhone has just now added those features. they're a little late. it also might be cheaper than the 1st iPhone, but you'll be paying way more in the long run with the "new" data plan contract.

Whoever uses there phone as there main camera, just don't get this phone. Your obviously not a professional photographer and Apple did not target that issue. They issued BIG ISSUES like GPS and 3G along with application support.
