Personally I think an eight year old is too young to be given a device with fairly extensive access to the Internet, but what the hey, it's your kid.

cannot transfer files by bluetooth. it does have 3G but cannot do video calling because it doesn't have a secondary camery.
is this what u call most complete?
i strongly recommend this phone for my 8 yrs. old son.
he loves playing games alot. its like an mp3 device with a sim card and a camera a bunch of kiddie game stuffs. how nice would it be for him.

OK guys so finally I was able to test all the phones that tend to be the best on the market nowadays.
HTC Hero / Nokia E52/55/71..etc. and honestly I can tell that even though 3GS has a low battery life and sound quality is poor, performance as a phone is only average and camera is slow and low-q, it is much more rewarding to use on daily basis. It sorta feels a bit better than other and I believe iPhone 4 will seriously rock. Apple doesn't release products that are unfinished like eg. Nokia does. Android is OK but not as good as 3GS.

Received our 32G iPhone 3GS on Vodafone UK today, and while it is fun to use, the signal strength (of the phone) is appalling. We own several Sony Ericsson and Nokia phones many years older than the iPhone and the signal strength on those models is significantly better on Vodafone. In fact, there are areas where the signal is lost on the iPhone and the other phones receive a good signal. I always knew before acquiring the iPhone that it was not a good phone (other than from a usability angle), so cannot complain, but Apple MUST partner with a good mobile/cell phone component maker and sort out the signal sensitivity and call quality for the 4G iPhone or future revisions of the 3G iPhone.

Why its not possible to share files using bluetooth? so how is it possible to send files to other mobile phones or devices?
You cannot always depend on MMS or Email because not all time this services will be available.
PLEASE ANYONE ANSWER.

Droid more valuable than Nexus One or iPhone 3GS according to iSuppli
Ah, here we go again: another report from iSuppli breaking down the bill of materials (BOM) for one of our favorite smartphones. This time it's the Droid / Milestone under scrutiny, Motorola's beefcake slider that currently sells for $560 month-to-month on Verizon ($199 on contract). According to iSuppli's analysis, Droid brings a $187.75 bill of materials that breaks down into $179.11 worth of components and $8.64 in manufacturing costs. Naturally, the BOM does not include licensing fees, software costs, accessories, or the massive outlay this device has received in advertising support. Nevertheless, it makes for interesting apples-to-apples fodder when comparing costs with the Nexus One ($174.15 in materials only), iPhone 3GS ($178.96 materials and manufacturing), and original Palm Pre ($138 materials and manufacturing). The single most expensive component on the Droid is the 16GB removable microSD card ($35) bundled with the Droid. And after a controversial MOTO report that demonstrated a lackluster capacitive touchscreen on the Droid, it's interesting to compare the Droid's 3.7-inch TFT LCD ($17.75) and capacitive touchscreen overlay ($17.50) with that of the iPhone 3GS ($19.25 spent on a smaller 3.5-inch LCD and cheaper $16 touchscreen overlay) and Nexus One (whopping $23.50 for 3.7-inch AM-OLED display and $17.50 for the touchscreen assembly). Rounding out the top-end costs are the Droid's 5 megapixel autofocus CMOS sensor ($14.25), Qualcomm baseband processor / RF chip ($14.04), and TI application processor ($12.90).

Hi! I just got my iPhone3gs today coz I can no longer wait for N900 on Vodafone UK. I always curse Mac for high price items. However for all those consumers who are so confused (like me) you have to decide WHAT special features do you really want to have in your pocket. Because if you're like me who wants a combination of digital camera, video calling (which you actually, I mean be honest, you never use it), mp3, pc FAST Internet.. It won't fulfill your "dream" phone. Companies would NEVER combine everything so perfectly coz it will ruin their other available products. When I was at he store this morning, I came to realize... If I want crystal clear images, I already have my digital camera (by the way Canon is always the best for pic resolutions).. If I want mp3, I already have my Sony Walkman.. But then I want fast Internet browsing and wide screen bec duh how will I enjoy Internet in a freaky small screen.. So since I have everything and all I NEED and WANT is pocket pc.. I got iPhone. believe me.. You'll enjoy it! By the way my bf's nokia n97 is fLling apart. Hahaha!

Iphone has plenty of support issues on the forums - that offered no support since if you complain they call you a troll.
My iPhone overheated and then the screen simply cracked... No support whatsoever from apple. They said it was "external damage".
I'm not even the only one but that doesn't matter to them.
Don't matter to me either since this device is shit. What matters is that I have to pay 50$ for another 10 months to at&t.

nick, 13 Jan 2010im not the iphone's greatest fan, but the satio? hahahah... moreWorst or not I prefer not to get enmeshed in this argument. However Satio is no match to I-Phone 3 GS and for that matter even Samsung Omnia HD is better than Satio .I have these two phones and would rate I-Phone ahead of Omnia HD in the areas of UI, touch screen, internet browsing & applications. On the other hand,I-Phone camera features and battery life leaves much to be desired. Omnia HD is definitely better in the areas of camera performance and music with the ear phones on. May be with the latest updates, it may become a tough candidate to the crown.

Go for the 3gs dude. no matter how great the features of the phone, it still comes down to the nice and responsive interface if you're going for a touchscreen phone. Many touchscreen phones are out there offering far more features than iphone, but on a daily basis of using a phone, i assure you iphone is a very nice choice..
