BUT!
Many have reported bad signal and call drops after it.
The fact that you can only install apps from the iStore is made to keep you safe from viruses by checking the app.
iPhone has no platform security so any virus will make you send your device back to apple for flashing (total format)

The truth about the so much denied and contradictory financial results of apple:
"Apple dubbed the laid off salespeople "full-time equivalents," reporting a headcount of 14,000 Apple store employees. That's slashed from the 15,600 number listed in its 10-K filing just last January."
The ever increasing profits of apple are nothing but advertisements, since no correlation can be made between the sum reported by Apple to the givernment and the one reported to the press.
Just google "statistics/world/manufacturer/apple" with quotes and see what a small drop iPhone is in the ocean.
Apple, as well as they might try to hide it, has very small anual profit rates forcing them to fire more than 10.000 employees every year!

So how come the sales of 3GS suddenly rocketed, while most users don't find the differences between 3G and 3GS as justifying the price? EASY! apple advertises fake income numbers so that naive users that buy fancy for popularity actually believe apple is a success... whereas the truth is the company barely keeps afloat firing tens of thousands of people every year!

Things are only getting worse for apple in Q3 2009, as Apple has it's device replacement program, it seems the only users interested in the 3GS were the ones already owning a 3G. Although many sites report the replaced devices as new sales, Gartner has placed Apple in the "OTHERS" category, since it was not able to keep up with top companies like Nokia, Samsung, Motorola or Sony Ericsson. Unfortunately compared to the boom registered by the iPhone back in 2007, it's market share has only been able to rise by 5% compared to Q3 2008. We would have expected a little more since 3GS is clearly superior to it's predecessors but the truth is the competition has been it this game for a while longer and Apple still has a little catching up to do, to create a full featured smartphone.
This is also in concordance with the low interest on GSMArena, where iPhone does not manage to score in the top 15 models or Apple in the top 7 brands; as interest, the iPhone bareley reaches above Sony W960 gaining a modest 11th position.

To stay in business Apple simply wiped out the Research&Development department back in the 90's (wich partly explains why it's devices are built by Chinese contractors) and gave out to Microsoft about 150 millions worth of stock, for helping them not to go broke back in '96-'97 - the actual value of Apple's stock was 20 to 25 US dollars.
Knowing how low the stock value of a barely floating company, probably those 150 million have now turned to billions as the stock value in 2009 was 230 to 250 US dollars.
Main thing why Microsoft doesn't pull the plug (because let's be honest when a company fires thousands they're far from doing as well as apple claims) is because Microsoft has their own software selling on Apple/MAC and a fair share of it. So the better apple is doing, the better Microsoft is doing.
Because of the bleak financial situation, Apple can't afford to depent on neither Intel nor AMD anymore and decided to invest the profit made with iPhone into chip manufacturing once again, a mistake that has cost them dearly before.

This is the information Apple desperately tries to hide from us all and it's a thing quite hard to find on the internet these days, as is real feedback over their products.
Steve Jobs, the CEO and main animator of apple has been operated on a few months ago for alcoholic cyrosis! I am glad he is better and he has to be since he's the only thing that stands between apple and doom.
But really, is that the attitude of the CEO of a winning company? Alcoholism? Firing almost 30.000 employees in less than a year?
Quo vadis Apple? Will Microsoft save you again this time?

hey there, Iphone (and Mac!) newbie here. Got a question about my Iphone that maybe you techies can help with?
I just got my Iphone 3GS 16GB and took it to a phone dealer to jailbreak it. It worked, i downloaded my first app (Winterboard) which installed,but when the phone rebooted for the install it 'locked'. It just showed a picture of a USB cable and Itunes. Tried connecting it to my Itunes but it said my Iphone was in 'recovery mode'.
Took it back to the phone dealer, and we discovered that we could successfully jailbreak the phone, but it 'locked' up like that everytime we completely shut it down and rebooted it. We'd need to recover using blackra1n everytime and revert to the 'standard' software (without jailbreaking).Can anyone advise what the problem might be? The phone guy didnt know as well. My software version is 3.1.2. Thanks!

Anonymous, 17 Nov 2009why do you own an iphone? hahaha u can not afford it in y... moreI understand that for "SOME" kids this sum might seem something unreachable especially when you're not old enough to have a contract... but... truth is the only thing wrong with 600$ is the features you get...
There's plenty winmo/symbian/android that offer ~70 more features than iPhone right out of the box without silly apps for sending bt files.
I'd pay twice the sum rather than getting an inferior device.
BUT! we should all wait for the 4G since it seems it will be so much better than the 3GS!

apps are i-tune base maybe they ensure the safety of the apps being downloaded even though so many of them are free..
dont download apps not passing thru i-tunes. they might be unhealthy for ur iphone..
