No wonder apple are posting such great profits - it's far easier to make a profit if you're not spending what you should be! This does seem a tad desperate from nokia, but i doubt they'd do this if they weren't confident that they had a case. The iphone's been around for 2 years now - why is it only now that this has come up? Perhaps nokia gave apple every opportunity to pay the patents, and apple kept promising to do so...and now nokia have had enough? It's quite sad that a tremendously successful company like apple still tries to operate on the sly.

Rumor has it, they stole the telephony core from devices of 1100 and 3310 class.
No wonder the battery doesn't last at all, that's pre-2000 technology this "ultimate computer uses".

MP... moreI wish someone would get all these rudy video formats sorted,,i thought the 3gpp had got this settled in a way so all downloaded content was standard..Ok drm stuff should perhaps work on a branded device but as for other content cant they agree on a cross platform that will work on all devices subject to bitrate resolution and frame rate..i mean like .mp4 with aac audio and thats it ,,it will play on every mobile subject to limitations of the playback bitrate etc.

Anonymous, 22 Oct 2009Why don't you go look up what Qualcom does? Nokia just w... moreDude I don't know what patents you can imagine nokia would want from a company with no experience in telecom, but if you think it's mulitouch, you should know nokia has it on both capacitative and resistive.

As for qualcom, what do you imagine UTMS = 1 patent, GSM = 1 patent, tbc.

No, all theese technologies have multiple ones, of wich many are held by nokia since they are (one of)the oldest member in the game.
The number of infringments is 10 and I really don't care how many/wich those are since sueing an american company on american soil requires some well fonded arguments. "Corporations don't-just-go-to-trials"

It's understandable apple can't make it's own phones, but not even their own firmware?!?
At least they stole from the very-best;)

Nokia just wants a cross licensing agreement because they want access to some of Apples patents, I thought America was the place of lawsuits.

/>the 600 mhz in 3gs does literally do nothing.
                    />no hq video, vga only
                    />no multitask

                    no code, no use.

Look what the back of iphone says, "designed in california" , do design companies write code?

Odd how apple shops run on microsoft technology isn't it?

MP4 is just a container, any desired codec (for encoding that is) may be used.

MP4 was just a marketing scheme as the real follower of mp3 is AAC. It has nothing to do with mpeg either.

So no, noone actually uses mp4 with the codecs it was designed with, but apple.
